SİNESTEZİ PERSPEKTİFİNDEN SERAMİK SANATI: GÖRSEL VE DUYUMSAL ALGININ KESİŞİMİ

Abstract

Bu çalışma, sinestezi kavramı üzerinden seramik sanatını değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma, özellikle görsel ve dokunsal algının kesiştiği noktaları inceleyerek, seramik yüzeylerin ve biçimlerin izleyici üzerindeki çok duyulu etkilerini analiz etmektedir. “Seramik sanatı, sinestezik algı üzerinden nasıl bir duyusal deneyim alanı yaratabilir?” sorusu temel araştırma sorusu olarak belirlenmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemi kapsamında seçilen çağdaş sanatçılara ait seramik eserler biçimsel, estetik ve duyusal açıdan çözümlenmiş; sinestezik etkiler, izleyici algısı üzerinden yorumlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda seçilen bazı çağdaş seramik sanatçılarının çalışmaları, sinestezinin nörolojik bir durumdan ziyade estetik ve psikolojik bir deneyim olarak da ele alınabileceğini göstermektedir. Elde edilen bulgular, seramik eserlerin görsel düzlemin ötesine geçerek bastırılmış sesleri, içsel titreşimleri ve dokunsal gerilimleri çağrıştıran çoklu duyusal etkiler yarattığını ortaya koymaktadır. Bu doğrultuda, sinestezik bakış açısının seramik sanatında duyular arası bir ifade dili kurma ve izleyiciyle daha derin bir etkileşim geliştirme açısından güçlü bir potansiyel taşıdığı söylenebilmektedir.

CERAMIC ART FROM A SYNESTHETIC PERSPECTIVE: THE INTERSECTION OF VISUAL AND SENSORY PERCEPTION

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate ceramic art through the concept of synesthesia. The research analyzes the multisensory effects of ceramic surfaces and forms on the viewer, particularly by examining the points where visual and tactile percep-tion intersect. The fundamental research question is: “How can ceramic art create a sensory experience through synest-hetic perception?” Within the scope of qualitative research methods, ceramic works by selected contemporary artists were analyzed in terms of form, aesthetics, and sensory aspects; synaesthetic effects were interpreted through viewer perception. In this context, the works of some selected contemporary ceramic artists show that synaesthesia can be con-sidered an aesthetic and psychological experience rather than a neurological condition. The findings reveal that ceramic works create multi-sensory effects that go beyond the visual plane, evoking suppressed sounds, internal vibrations, and tactile tensions. In this regard, it can be said that the synesthetic perspective has strong potential in establishing an inter-sensory language of expression in ceramic art and developing a deeper interaction with the viewer.
