NEW LANDSCAPE IN THE CONTEXT OF ANTHROPOCENE AESTHETICS: ECOLOGICAL SENSITIVITY AND REPRESENTATION IN ART

Abstract

Since the Industrial Revolution, the decisive impact of human activity on the geological scale has blurred the boundaries between nature and culture, giving rise to a new search for representation in art. In the Anthropocene era, art not only documents environmental degradation but also emerges as a field that generates ethical, aesthetic, and ecological awareness. In this context, this study examines the artistic representation of nature within the framework of Anthropocene aesthetics and presents the idea of a "new landscape" as a conceptual proposal By analyzing work of artists such as Edward Burtynsky, Zaria Forman, and Agnes Denes, the fragility, memory, and transformation of nature are evaluated from their aesthetic, political, and ecological dimensions. The findings demonstrate that the "new landscape" concept offers an ethical and sensory representational space that calls for a rethinking of the nature-human relationship. Thus, art is positioned as a transformative mode of thought that reimagines the landscape in the Anthropocene era.

ANTROPOSEN ESTETİĞİ BAĞLAMINDA YENİ MANZARA: SANATTA EKOLOJİK DUYARLILIK VE TEMSİL

Abstract

Sanayi Devrimi’nden itibaren insan etkisinin jeolojik ölçekte belirleyici hale gelmesi doğa ve kültür arasındaki sınırları bulanıklaştırarak sanatta yeni bir temsil arayışını doğurmuştur. Antroposen çağında sanat çevresel tahribatı belgelemekle kalmaz etik, estetik ve ekolojik farkındalık yaratan bir alan olarak öne çıkar. Bu bağlamda çalışma, Antroposen estetiği çerçevesinde doğanın sanattaki temsiline odaklanmakta ve “yeni manzara” düşüncesini kavramsal bir öneri olarak ortaya koymaktadır. Edward Burtynsky, Zaria Forman, Agnes Denes vb. sanatçıların eserleri aracılığıyla doğanın kırılganlığı, hafızası ve dönüşümü estetik, politik ve ekolojik boyutlarıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular “yeni manzara” anlayışının doğa-insan ilişkisini yeniden düşünmeye çağıran etik ve duyusal bir temsil alanı sunduğunu göstermektedir. Böylece sanat Antroposen
çağında manzarayı yeniden kurgulayan dönüştürücü bir düşünme biçimi olarak konumlanır.
