DER KINDLICHE SPRACHERWERB
Abstract
This paper dwells on the beginning period of children's language acquisition process. it is a well-known fact that children begin to name the objects they see around in the 12th month and they produce one or two words µtterances including especially the object names in the period between 121 h and 20th month. This period is focused on by Jean Piaget and many other scholars; however, it has not been explained thoroughly and decisively yet. This paper gives on overview of the . ways the different approaches and theories explain children's languauge acquisition process: it dwells on object continuity and symhol f'u.nction put forth by Piaget in the context of developmental psychology, Erlch Lenneberg's approach related to biological developmımt, Noam Chomsky's approach put forth in generative transformational theory and the ways the most basic theories such as psychological approach deals with children's
language acquisition. How children semantically match given speech series (ın>rds) with given objects, mental designs, ete. and when these mental concepts are formulated (before, during or after the naming periotf) are focused on in the framework of the mentioned theoretical views. Brieflythe cognitive and biological substructures of language acquisition are explained and the differences among various views are put forth.
