Determination of Consumption Habits of Milk and Dairy Products of Selcuk University Undergraduate Students

Abstract

Consumption habits of milk and dairy products of the students were examined in the survey conducted by applying the face-to-face interview technique with 151 students studying at different faculties and colleges of Selcuk University. As a result of the research, it was determined that only 28,48% of the students were regular and 71.52% of them had consumed irregular milk and dairy products and it was determined that the criterion that they paid the most attention in purchasing milk and milk products was 76.15%. Most of the students prefer to buy milk and dairy products from the market and it has been determined that food expenditures have been allocated between 38.41% and 150-200 TL in expenditures and 45.03% is allocated to milk and milk products in this expenditure. As a result, there is a need for policy studies to increase the consumption of milk and milk products, which are basic animal foods, to a healthy and balanced diet, and to raise the consumption of milk and milk per capita above the normal level, And society consciousness should be provided about the consumption of dairy products.

Selçuk Üniversitesi Lisans Öğrencilerinin Süt ve Süt Ürünleri Tüketim Alışkanlıklarının Belirlenmes

Abstract

Araştırmada, Selçuk Üniversitesinin farklı fakültelerinde ve yüksekokullarında eğitim gören 151 öğrenciyle yüz yüze görüşme tekniğini uygulayarak elde edilen verilerle, öğrencilerin süt ve süt ürünleri tüketim alışkanlıkları incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin sadece %28.48’i düzenli, %71.52’sinin de düzensiz süt ve süt ürünleri tüketmiş olduğu belirlenmiş olup, süt ve süt ürünlerini satın almada en fazla dikkat ettiği kriterin %76.15 ile son kullanma tarihi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğu süt ve süt ürünlerini marketten almayı tercih etmekte olup, toplam harcamaları içinde gıda harcamalarına %38.41 oranla 150-200 TL ayırmış olmakla birlikte bu harcama içerisinde süt ve süt ürünlerine de %45.03 oranla 5-20 TL ayırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Bunun sonucunda sağlıklı ve dengeli beslenmede temel hayvansal gıda olan süt ve sütten elde edilen süt ürünlerinin tüketilmesinde etkili olan fiyat, sağlıklı, güvenli gıdaların sağlandığı bir sistem ve kişi başına düşen süt ve süt tüketiminin normal düzeyin üzerine çıkarılması konusunda gerekli politika çalışmalarına ihtiyaç duyulmakta olup, süt ve süt ürünleri tüketimi konusunda da toplum bilinçlendirilmesi sağlanmalıdır.
