Studying Open-Green Areas in Bayrampaşa District of Istanbul

Abstract

This study was prepared to determine adequacy of quantity and quality (qualitative) of the open and green areas in Bayrampaşa district of İstanbul. For this purpose, firstly a literature study was investigated to define open and green areas and to show standard of this areas clearly. Then available green areas in Bayrampaşa district were evaluated according to the literature study. In this research, 5-children play ground, 55-neighborhood parks, 1-city park, 5-sports fields and passive green areas were studied. According to the results, it has appeared that the green areas in Bayrampaşa district are in sufficient in terms of both qualitative and quantitative. When the norms of the Ministry of Public Works and Settlement are considered, it is found that there is 5.45 m² of deficiency in the green areas for per person in the district. In terms of distance, it is deter-mined that children play ground and sports fields have not caught the required standards; however, neighborhood parks have caught this standartd. Besides, it is seen that the green areas in the district have not got a regularity.
