Effect of Irrigation Water Salinity on Some Yield Parameters and Potassium Uptake of Fresh Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the effect of irrigation water salinity on pot yield and potassium uptake for fresh bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) grown in a greenhouse. First, five potassium rates, K_{0} = 0 K₁ = 100, K_{2} = 200 K_{3} = 400 and K₁ = 800 ppm K, applied as a potassium chloride solution. And then, the plants were irrigated with four salinity levels ( T_{0} = 0, 25 * dS / m , T_{1} = 1 * dS / m T_{2} = 2 * dS / i * n T_{3} = 3 * dS / m * l ) As a result, irrigation water salinity increased sodiuın (Na) content while it decreased fruit number and weight. The relationship between K uptake of the plant and other characteristics were found nonsignificant.
