Mehmet Asutay is a Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Political Economy & Finance at the Department of Finance, Durham University Business School; the Director of the Durham Centre for Islamic Economics and Finance, and the programme director for the MSc Islamic Finance programme.
Mehmet’s teaching, research, publications, and research supervision focus on Islamic moral economy/Islamic economics, Islamic political economy, Islamic finance and banking, Islamic governance and management, Islamic social welfare institutions, and Middle Eastern political economies.
His articles on his research interests have appeared in various international academic journals and professional magazines. He has also published manuscripts and edited books on aspects of Islamic moral economy and Islamic finance.
Mehmet has served as a consultant to COMCEC (a part of the OIC), CIBAFI, and UNDP-IICPSD on various projects, and he was also a member of the Board of Directors of Albaraka Turk Participation Bank from 2018 to 2020. He was the Honorary Treasurer of BRISMES (British Society for Middle Eastern Studies) and its journal British Journal of Middle East Studies from 2009 to 2019.
Mehmet is the editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Islam and Society, the International Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance Studies, and the Review of Islamic Economics. He is also a Board Member of the International Association for Islamic Economics.
Mehmet is the 2024 Laureate of IsDB (Islamic Development Bank) Prize for Impactful Achievement in Islamic Economics for recognition of his novel work on Islamic moral economy and the articulation of Islamic finance to be supportive of sustainable development and the welfare of human beings.

Prof. Dr. Ferit İZCİ graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 1992. He completed his Master's degree at Atatürk University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Management and Organization, with a thesis titled "Management Training: A Comparative Study in Four Public and Private Sector Banks" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nurullah GENÇ. In 1994, he was appointed as a Research Assistant at Cumhuriyet University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. He completed his Ph.D. program in 2001 at Cumhuriyet University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Public Administration, Sub-department of Management Sciences, with a doctoral dissertation titled "The Impact of Information Technologies on Public Institutions: The Case of the Ministry of Health" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. İbrahim YILDIRIM. In 2006, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor to the Sub-department of Management Sciences, Department of Public Administration at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, where he subsequently served as Department Chair, Vice Dean, and Advisor to the Rector. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2014 and the title of Full Professor in January 2019. In 2022, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and also as the Vice Rector at Bitlis Eren University. He has published 48 articles in national and international journals, presented 78 papers at international symposia and congresses, authored 3 books, contributed 10 book chapters, and participated in 5 research projects. To date, he has supervised a total of 28 theses, including 4 Ph.D. dissertations and 24 Master's theses. Prof. Dr. Ferit İZCİ currently serves as the Head of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Mustafa ÖZER is an economist and teaches at the Anadolu University, Eskişehir, Turkey. Mustafa Özer’s areas of research are applied econometrics (especially in the fields of tourism economics, financial markets, Turkish Economy and open macro economy), financial crises, business cycles, as well as civil society and publishes articles in international journals especially subjects of financial market interactions, current account deficit and its effect on macro economy and foreign trade, growth and tourism. He teaches the Ph.D. econometrics courses at Social Sciences Institute of Anadolu University and Belgrade Banking Academy in Serbia. Özer led the both national and international projects regarding the role of civil society in Turkey, especially measuring the value added and employment contributions of civil society. Özer is also member of the scientific committee of international conferences such as MIBES, ICOBAS, ASECU, IJOPEC, EconAnadolu, Europe and Asia: Economic Integration Prospects and EUREFE. He serves as an editor in International Econometric Review. He is also editorial board member of the international scientific journals such as Equilibrium. Quarterly Journal of Economics and Economic Policy, Journal of Risk Management, and, Journal of Central Banking Theory and Practice and some journals in Turkey and contributes Finance research letter, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Review of Economics and Finance, Singapore Economic Review, Financial Innovation, Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, Journal of the Knowledge Economy, SN Business & Economics (SNBE), and International Journal of Emerging Markets as a reviewer and Sage Open as an article editor and reviewer. He acts as a guest editor in Research in Globalization.

Erhan Akkas is an Associate Professor at Social Sciences University of Ankara. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University in 2010. He completed his Master’s degree in Global Political Economy at the University of Sussex in 2014, and earned his PhD in Islamic Economics and Finance from Durham University in 2019. He has been a visiting researcher at Qatar University and Durham University. In 2023, he received the title of Associate Professor in International Economics. Alongside his academic work, he has taken on various administrative and institutional roles. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Turkish Journal of Islamic Economics. His research focuses on Middle Eastern economics and political economy, as well as Islamic economics, Islamic finance, and development. He has published numerous academic papers in prestigious international journals and with leading academic publishers. He is the editor of the book Islamic Economics and Financial Crisis and has also contributed to Turkish economic literature by translating key books such as “Finance and the Good Society” and “Social Capital and Risk Sharing”.
