The aim of Syedra Health Journal is to support studies that convey the latest developments in the field of health sciences—primarily in medicine, nursing, physiotherapy and rehabilitation, occupational therapy, nutrition and dietetics, child development, gerontology, health management, and social work—by publishing clinical research, review articles, case reports, and letters to the editor. The journal aims to contribute to knowledge sharing, enhance clinical practice, and support the continuation of education and research by facilitating the dissemination of scientific advancements.
The scope of Syedra Health Journal encompasses all health professionals and researchers. The journal accepts articles for evaluation that are prepared on topics related to health sciences.
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
The writing and publication principles of Syedra Health Journal have been prepared in accordance with the guidelines and policies published by the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals – International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) (http://www.icmje.org) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org).
Manuscript Preparation
Manuscripts should be prepared in line with the ICMJE – Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (http://www.icmje.org). Authors are expected to prepare their articles in compliance with the CONSORT guidelines. The STROBE guidelines should be followed for original research articles, PRISMA for systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and ARRIVE for experimental animal studies. In Turkish manuscripts, the Turkish Language Association's (TDK) dictionary should be used. English manuscripts and abstracts must be reviewed by a language expert prior to submission. The editor or section editors may request a certificate of professional proofreading for English manuscripts or abstracts when deemed necessary.
Article Types
Original Article: Research presenting fundamental or clinical knowledge on a current and significant topic, extending previous studies or introducing new perspectives on traditional subjects. Maximum 4000 words and 40 references.
Case Report: Describes interesting cases, novel ideas, or techniques. Figures, tables, and references should be limited to those necessary for clarity. Maximum 2000 words and 20 references.
Editorial Commentary: Invited contributions by experts offering insight on clinical or educational matters. Maximum 1000 words and 10 references.
Invited Review / Systematic Review / Meta-Analysis: Systematic and meta-analyses must be prepared directly by the authors, while narrative reviews are by invitation. Should incorporate up-to-date literature on any topic relevant to health and rehabilitation sciences. Prior publications on the topic are preferred. Maximum 6000 words and 100 references.
Letter to the Editor: If commenting on a previously published article, the cited article must be specified (issue and date). The letter may be responded to by the editor or the article's author(s) in the journal. Limited to 500 words and 5 references.
Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts must be written in Microsoft Word (PC-compatible), on A4 paper.
Use “Times New Roman” font, 12-point size, and 1.5 line spacing throughout.
All margins should be 2.5 cm.
Pages (bottom-right corner) and lines should be numbered.
Main headings (e.g., Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, References) should be in uppercase and bold.
Subheadings should be in title case and bold.
In Turkish manuscripts, use a comma (,) for decimal points; in English manuscripts, use a period (.).
Numerical values should include two decimal places, except for p and r values, which should be written with three decimal places.
Abbreviations should be defined in parentheses at first mention and used consistently thereafter. International abbreviations should follow scientific writing standards.
Title Page
The article title should be concise yet descriptive and compatible with the manuscript’s content. Avoid abbreviations. Titles must be provided in both Turkish and English, in uppercase and bold. A short running title (maximum 40 characters) must also be included in both languages.
The word count (excluding title page, references, tables, and figures) must be stated.
For all authors, the following should be provided:
Full names in uppercase, academic titles, institutional affiliations, and ORCID numbers.
Numbered superscripts for affiliations.
Contact details (including full address, current email, and phone number) for all authors.
Clearly indicate the corresponding author.
Include the following sections:
Disclosures: If the article was presented previously (as abstract or oral presentation), state the event name, location, date, and publication details.
Funding: If applicable, specify supporting institutions or grants.
Conflict of Interest: Any conflicts must be disclosed.
Author Contributions: State the roles of each author under the following headings: Concept, Design, Supervision, Resources, Materials, Data Collection/Processing, Analysis/Interpretation, Literature Search, Writing, Critical Review.
Acknowledgments: Briefly mention any individuals or organizations that contributed but do not meet authorship criteria (e.g., language editing, technical or statistical support).

Abstracts
Each manuscript must include abstracts in both Turkish and English.
Turkish Abstract:
Should start on a separate page.
Must not exceed 250 words.
Structured under: Amaç (Purpose), Yöntem (Methods), Sonuçlar (Results), Tartışma (Conclusion).
Must include p values in the results section.
Decimal points must use a comma (,).
Keywords:
Must include 3 to 5 terms from the “Türkiye Bilim Terimleri” list (http://www.bilimterimleri.com).
If a new concept is not available in the list, custom keywords may be used.
Each keyword should begin with a capital letter, separated by commas, and listed in alphabetical order.
English Abstract:
Must start on a separate page and not exceed 300 words.
Structured under: Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
Use a period (.) for decimals.
English abstract and keywords must be direct translations of the Turkish versions.
Keywords must be selected from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), in alphabetical order.
Main Sections of a Research Article
Turkish: “Giriş”, “Gereç ve Yöntem”, “Bulgular”, “Tartışma”
English: “Introduction”, “Materials and Methods”, “Results”, “Discussion”
Introduction: Summarize prior research and state the rationale and objective of the study.
Materials and Methods: Clearly describe methods and reference relevant sources. Human studies must conform to the Declaration of Helsinki, with ethics committee approval (include name, date, protocol number) and informed consent. Animal studies must comply with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and include ethics approval.
Also include:
A Statistical Analysis subsection with software details, version, location, and vendor.
Justification of statistical methods and sample size with references.
Statement of publication consent for photos revealing participant identity.
Results: Present data without interpretation. Avoid repeating data already shown in tables.
Discussion: Begin with a summary of key findings, interpret results in light of the literature, and note study limitations and clinical implications. Avoid repeating detailed results or discussing data not obtained.
References
Must follow APA 7th edition.
List after the main text in the order of citation.
Limit references older than 10 years to no more than 15% of total.
In-text citations should be in round brackets before the period.

Tables should be prepared in MS Word and placed at the end of the manuscript.
Maximum of 6 tables/figures combined.
Font size: 10 pt.
Titles in bold; no vertical lines.
Decimal values: 2 digits (except p, r = 3 digits).
Define all abbreviations below the table using: abbreviation: full term.
Figures:
Submit separately in high-resolution JPEG, PNG, or TIFF.
Numbered in order of appearance.
Photos with identifiable individuals require signed consent.
Mention consent in the first paragraph of the “Methods” section.
Submission Format
Submit two versions:
Anonymous Full Text (with all institution names blinded using “X”) – uploaded as “Full Text File”.
Author Identified File – uploaded as “Additional File”.
Peer Review Process
The journal’s editorial policies follow ICMJE, WAME, CSE, COPE, EASE, and NISO guidelines. Manuscripts are initially checked for guideline compliance by the technical editor. Non-compliant submissions are returned for correction. Papers undergo peer review by three subject experts. Authors must address reviewer comments precisely and upload revised versions. This process continues until the editorial board grants final approval.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Editors and Section Editors
Editors and section editors are bound by ethical responsibilities and duties as outlined in the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, which are openly accessible through the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Editors and section editors are responsible for:
Ensuring that all articles published in the journal comply with the journal’s editorial policies and international standards,
Enhancing the journal’s quality, originality, and readability,
Conducting editorial processes transparently without compromising intellectual property rights or ethical standards,
Preventing potential conflicts of interest among authors, reviewers, and third parties to maintain impartial and independent review processes.
Editorial decisions are based on the significance, originality, validity, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the journal’s aims and scope. Editors implement the journal’s Double-Blind Peer Review policy and ensure that each manuscript is processed in a fair, unbiased, timely, and conflict-free manner. When necessary, an independent external editor may be appointed to manage the review process of submissions authored by journal editors or editorial board members.
Reviewers
All manuscripts submitted to Syedra Health Journal undergo a double-blind peer review process. To ensure objectivity, each submission is reviewed by three independent experts in the relevant field.
Reviewers must:
Treat the submitted manuscript as confidential,
Declare any conflicts of interest to the journal,
Refrain from using the manuscript for any purpose prior to its publication,
Provide constructive, respectful, and objective feedback,
Complete the review in a timely and ethically responsible manner.
Authors
Authors are responsible for the scientific content and ethical compliance of their submissions. All experimental, clinical, and case report studies must comply with international ethical standards, specifically the World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki: Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects (www.wma.net), and must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee.
Only studies that have received ethics committee approval and have been conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration will be considered. Authors must clearly state in the "Methods" section that their research adhered to these principles, and that informed consent was obtained from participants. When requested, authors must be able to provide documentation of such consent and ethics approval (including the name of the committee and approval number).
For studies not requiring ethics approval (e.g., meta-analyses, systematic or invited reviews), authors must upload an exemption document from an appropriate body or submit a declaration letter signed by the corresponding author.
Animal studies must comply with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (http://www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html), and authors must state in the "Methods" section that they adhered to animal rights regulations and obtained ethics committee approval.
All authors must meet the authorship criteria defined by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE – www.icmje.org), which require:
Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data,
Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content,
Final approval of the version to be published,
Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
The scientific and ethical responsibility of the manuscript lies entirely with the authors. All submissions will be screened by the journal's technical editorial board using a licensed plagiarism detection software (iThenticate/CrossCheck or intihal.net). The similarity rate in the main text (excluding references, tables, and figures) must not exceed 20%. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold or showing overlap with authors’ previous work will be rejected before peer review.
If plagiarism, citation manipulation, or data fabrication/falsification is suspected or detected, the editorial board will follow the COPE Guidelines and take appropriate actions.
Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for all communications with the journal from submission through publication and must upload the following documents:

Copyright Transfer Form (signed; no changes to author list or order after submission),
Author Contribution Form,
Conflict of Interest Form,
Publication Rights Agreement.
If the manuscript contains previously published material such as texts, tables, figures, surveys, or scales (including those requiring specific permissions or certificates for validity/reliability studies), the authors must obtain written permission from the copyright holders and submit it with the manuscript. Any identifiable patient images must be accompanied by signed consent forms and this consent must be stated in the “Methods” section.
If the manuscript or any part of it was previously presented at a scientific meeting or published in abstract form, this must be clearly indicated on the title page.
