Mission and Vision of the Journal

Stratium: Journal of International Politics and Security Studies has adopted the mission of publishing high-quality academic studies in the field of international politics and security studies, creating a comprehensive discussion environment by bringing together different disciplines, and contributing to knowledge production on a global scale.

Our mission is built on three main pillars:

1. Scientific Contribution and Quality

• Publishing only original articles with academic value and based on rigorous methodological foundations.
• Contributing to theoretical and empirical knowledge accumulation in fields such as international relations, security studies, migration, terrorism, conflict resolution, energy security, and cybersecurity.

2. Ethics and Transparency

• Conducting all processes in accordance with COPE standards.
• Ensuring that conflicts of interest are openly declared and maintaining academic impartiality through the double-blind peer review process.
• Ensuring equal and free access to knowledge for everyone through an open access policy.

3. International Visibility and Indexing

• Being included in leading national and international indexes such as TR Index and DOAJ in the short term.
• Being indexed in widely recognized social science databases such as EBSCO, ProQuest, and Scopus in the medium term.
• Becoming a global reference point in the field by being included in the world’s most prestigious indexes, such as Web of Science (ESCI and SSCI), in the long term.

Stratium considers not only publication quality but also the strengthening of its international editorial board, academic diversity, and interdisciplinary collaborations as fundamental components of its mission in order to achieve these goals.

Vision of the Journal

Stratium envisions becoming a respected, prestigious, and leading academic journal in the field of international politics and security studies.

The journal’s vision is shaped around three fundamental dimensions:

• Becoming a primary reference source for articles published in the fields of international politics and security studies.
• Becoming a center that guides academic literature by providing a platform for studies that develop new concepts, approaches, and methods in the field.

• Bringing together contributions from researchers representing different geographical regions and academic traditions, and becoming a platform followed not only in Türkiye but also worldwide.
• Providing a broad range of contributions, from early-career researchers to senior academics, by embracing pluralism and scientific diversity.

• Ensuring that published academic studies provide guidance not only theoretically but also practically to decision-makers, diplomats, security experts, and policymakers.
