WRITING GUIDELINES

Articles submitted to the journal must be prepared using the article template.

General Rules
• Articles must be submitted electronically via the ‘Submit Article’ section on the journal's website.
• Submitted articles must be appropriate to the journal's purpose and scope.
• Only works prepared in Turkish, Arabic, English, and Persian will be accepted by the journal.
• Works submitted to the journal should be related to religious studies or manuscripts, primarily in theology and Islamic sciences. In this context, articles, book reviews, evaluation articles, editor's notes, simplifications, translations, and technical notes will be evaluated.
• All documents and files must be submitted as Word documents (.doc or .docx).
• Articles submitted for evaluation must not have been published anywhere else in order to be accepted. Articles derived from theses are also accepted for publication, provided this is stated.
• A separate page should be created and the full name(s) and institutional title(s) of the author(s), the postal address(es), work/mobile phone number(s), and email address(es) of the author(s) corresponding should be written here. This page should be uploaded to the system separately from the page containing the article text. No information or markings belonging to the author should appear in the article text.
• Master's and doctoral students may submit their work to the journal with their supervisors (first author being the student, second author being the supervising academic). Articles not submitted with the supervisor may be published as single-authored works with a waiver letter from the supervisor.

Title Structure for Scientific Research Articles:

2. If the article language is English, the English title and abstract are placed first, followed by the Turkish title and abstract. If the article is in Arabic, the Arabic title and abstract are placed first, followed by the Turkish title and abstract, and finally the English title and abstract. If the article is in Persian, the Persian title and abstract are placed first, followed by the Turkish title and abstract, and finally the English title and abstract.
3. Studies must be prepared in accordance with the journal's writing rules.
4. The first letter of all headings in the study should be capitalised, and headings should be 12 point.
5. The study page should be A4 format.
6. Margins should be 2,5 cm on all sides.
7. If a page-end explanation is to be provided for the title of the study, an asterisk (*) should be used.
8. No header or footer should be added.
9. Page numbers should not be added.
10. Arabic and Persian words and texts in the work should be written in Traditional Arabic font, size 14. Other spelling rules for Arabic and Persian words are the same as the rules below.
Title Formatting in Tahkik Articles:
11. The order of elements in a ‘Tahkik article’ should be as follows:
1.1. Turkish Title (If the Tahkik article is entirely in Arabic, the title should be in Arabic)
1.2. Turkish Abstract (If the Tahkik article is entirely in Arabic, the abstract should be in Arabic)
1.3. Keywords (If the research article is entirely in Arabic, the keywords should be in Arabic)
1.4. English Title
1.5. Abstract
1.6. Keywords
1.7. Study/Analysis (This section should include the following headings:)
1.7.1. Information about the Author's Name, Life, Scientific Personality and Death
1.7.2. The Author's Teachers and Students

Title of the Work
1. The title of the work should be formatted according to the ISNAD Citation 2 System, using Book Antiqua Bold font size 12, justified. In Arabic articles, the article title must be in Traditional Arabic font at 14pt, justified.
2. Other titles should be formatted according to the ISNAD 2 Citation System, using Book Antiqua Bold font size 12.
3. Headings should be as concise as possible while accurately reflecting the subject matter. Double quotation marks (“-”) or slashes (/) should not be used in the text. Colons (:) may be used when deemed necessary. Work titles should be written in italics.
4. Headings (except for Summary, Abstract, Introduction, Conclusion, and Bibliography) should be numbered using the decimal system, as follows: ‘1. 2. 3.; 1.1., 1.2.; 1.2.1.’. A space should be left between the heading number and the first letter of the heading.
5. Only the first letter of words in headings should be capitalised. Italics should not be used.

Abstract
1. It should be between 150 and 300 words.
2. The abstract should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; it should be justified, single-spaced and without indentation.
3. If the article is written in a language other than Turkish, a 150-300 word abstract in the language of the article must be accompanied by a 150-350 word abstract in Turkish and English.
The Summary and Abstract sections of the study should include the following:
1. Presentation of the general framework or problem of the study;
2. Clear statement of the problem/purpose;
3. Answer to the question: What is the gap in the literature and how will your study contribute to filling this gap and solving the problem?
4. Details of the method followed in doing so;
5. Results achieved in the study.

Keywords
1. Should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; they should be aligned to both sides, single-spaced and without indentation. They should consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 words. The first word should be the relevant scientific field.
2. Keywords assist in the electronic scanning and indexing of the publication and are of great importance in enabling researchers to find the publication. For this reason, concepts that accurately reflect the relevant article should be selected and listed from general to specific.
3. The first concept must be the name of the scientific field. The second concept should be determined as the subject, school of thought, person, or work title reflecting the research. Concepts that fully reflect the content of the article should then be added.
4. If the study focuses on a person or work, the name of the relevant work and author must be included as keywords.
5. Words that do not have a conceptual meaning beyond their literal meaning when used alone should not be chosen as concepts.
6. Each word should begin with a capital letter; a comma should be placed after each word.

Abstract (English)
1. It should be between 150 and 350 words.
2. It should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; it should be justified, single-spaced and without indentation.
3. The points indicated in the Summary must be included in the Abstract section.

Keywords
1. Should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; it should be justified, single-spaced, and without indentation.
2. Should consist of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 words.
3. The Keywords section must include the points indicated in Keywords.

Body Text
1. Should be written in Times New Roman font size 12; it should be justified, with 1.15 line spacing.
2. Spacing should be set to 0 pt above and 6 pt below.
3. Although there is no word or page limit for articles, the editorial board has the authority to decide on articles that are excessively long.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              4. The "Traditional Arabic" font must be used for Arabic. For certain letters or characters in Persian or Ottoman Turkish that are incompatible with this font, the "Traditional Naskh" font may be preferred.

Direct Quotations
1. All direct quotations in Turkish texts must be made in accordance with the ISNAD 2 Citation System. In Arabic texts, they should be made in accordance with the ‘İSAM Tahkikli Neşir Esasları (İTNES)’ guide.
2. If the direct quotation is a paragraph or if the author of the article wishes to use the direct quotation as a separate paragraph, it should be written in Times New Roman font size 10; it should be aligned on both sides and have single line spacing. The paragraph should have no indentation at the beginning, and the entire paragraph should be indented 2 cm from the left and right; the spacing should be 0 pt at the top and 6 pt at the bottom.

Footnotes
1. Footnotes should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; they should be justified and single-spaced. Spacing should be set to 0 pt above and below.
2. The footnote style should comply with the ISNAD Citation 2 System.
3. Arabic words in footnotes and references should be in 12-point Traditional Arabic font. For certain letters or characters in Persian or Ottoman Turkish, the "Traditional Naskh" font may be preferred.

Tables, Figures and Images
1. They should be formatted in accordance with the ISNAD 2 Citation System.
2. Tables, figures and images should be of a size appropriate for the journal's pages. The content of tables, figures and images should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; they should be aligned to both sides.
3. Table, figure and image captions and, if applicable, references should be written in Book Antiqua font size 10; they should be aligned to both sides, with 1.15 line spacing, and 0 pt top and bottom margins.
4. Table, figure and image captions should be numbered as “Table 1.”, “Figure 1.”, “Image 1.”, etc., and only the numbers, i.e. “Table 1.”, etc., should be in bold.
5. Table, figure and image captions should be numbered sequentially according to their appearance in the article text.
6. Footnotes should be placed immediately below the body of the table, figure or image and should be indicated by lowercase letters.
7. Vertical rules should be avoided. Tables should be used as sparingly as possible, and care should be taken to ensure that the data presented in tables does not duplicate results already stated elsewhere in the article.
8. Tables should not extend beyond the writing area (page margins should not be violated), and margins should be set to 0 pt at the top and 6 pt at the bottom. Tables smaller than the page writing area should be aligned to the left.

Abbreviations
1. Abbreviations should be made as specified in the ISNAD 2 Citation System; if the abbreviation used is not specified in the ISNAD 2 Citation System, the author's preference should be stated in the explanation section when submitting the article.
2. No abbreviations should be made in the names of any works other than encyclopaedias and classical works that are quoted.

Conclusion
1. A conclusion section is mandatory.
2. The conclusion or proposed solution reached by the study must be clearly stated.
3. The conclusion should not be a summary of the study. Findings, critiques, and proposals should be included.

References
1. The references should begin on the page following the conclusion section.
2. References should be written in Book Antiqua font size 12; they should be aligned to both sides and single-spaced.
3. For each reference, the first line should be flush left, and subsequent lines should be indented 1.25 cm from the left. For each reference, the spacing should be 0 pt above and 6 pt below.
4. If multiple works by the same author are included in the bibliography, the author's name should be repeated for each work.
5. References should be organised according to the ISNAD 2 Citation System.
6. If available, DOI numbers should be added to articles included in the bibliography in accordance with the ISNAD 2 Citation System.
7. The suffix “el” should not be used in the surname of the author of the work cited in the bibliography and footnotes.
8. When writing Arabic source names, as a general rule, the first letters of the work names (of each word) should be capitalised. Work titles should be formatted in italics.
9. References to journals should not include the day and month.
10. Roman numerals should not be used for volumes and issues when citing journals.
11. No spaces should be left before or after the hyphen (-) used to separate the names of two authors, translators, editors, investigators, etc. in the bibliography.
12. A Latinised version of the bibliography should also be provided for Arabic and Persian articles.
13. The access date must be included for electronic sources listed in the bibliography.
