Talim: Journal of Education in Muslim Societies and Communities is an academic and peer-reviewed journal.
Talim aims to accrue studies to academic world, which deal with education or religious education from an interdisciplinary perspective, offer original initiatives and solutions, examine it with different/new research methods, and deal with it comparatively in the context of different countries.
Talim publishes studies focused on education and religious education in Muslim societies and communities, as well as theoretical and applied studies that deal with this issue from a disciplinary or an interdisciplinary perspective.
Talim publishes education or religious education centred copyrighted and translated articles, research notes, symposium/book/thesis evaluations, biographies, edition critiques and suchlike studies.

Publication Ethics
Refereed articles are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality. In the realization of scientific production, all components of the publication process; publishers, editors, authors, referees and readers must comply with ethical principles. In this context, the publication ethics and open access policy of Talim Journal requires that all components of the publication process comply with ethical principles in line with the guidelines and policies published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
For this reason, if situations such as manipulation of data, distortion of data and the use of fabricated data used in the articles of Talim Journal are detected, this will be officially reported to the institution where the article writer works and the article will be rejected. Our journal has the right to request the output files of the analysis results from the authors according to the feedback given by the editors and/or referees.
Publisher's Ethical Responsibilities
Önder Imam Hatip School’s Association, the publisher of Talim Magazine, is a non-profit non-governmental organization that pursues the public interest.
As the head of the Editorial Board, an editor and, depending on the case, one or more assistant editors and field editors are determined for Talim. According to the subject of the article, when necessary, the editor can send an article to the faculty members who are not members of the Board of Editors for review as a field editor.
Responsibilities of Talim Magazine Editorial Board
• The Editorial Board of Talim Journal is responsible for each article submitted to the journal and for all processes after its publication. This responsibility requires making decisions independently without considering personal gain. The relationship between the Publisher and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence, and all decisions taken by the editors are independent of the publisher and other persons and organizations.
• The Editorial Board of Talim Journal strives to continuously improve the journal and increase its publication quality.
• Talim Journal Editorial Board ensures that journal policies such as publication, blind review, evaluation process and ethical principles are determined and implemented.
• Talim Journal Editorial Board protects the copyright of the article authors published in Talim Journal.
• Talim Journal Editorial Board is responsible for taking precautions regarding intellectual property rights, unscientific-unethical behaviors and plagiarism during the publication process of articles and journals.
• The Board prepares an “Author's Guide” containing the information requirements of the author (s) and a “Referee Guide” containing the information that the referees will need during the evaluation phase, and updates it when necessary.
• Talim Journal Editorial Board keeps the records of each article and correspondence related to the journal electronically or in print.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editor, Assistant Editors and Field Editors
• Editors endeavor to respond to the information needs of referees, author(s), researchers, practitioners and readers when necessary, to act according to the principles of clarity in matters that require correction and explanation during the publication process.
• While deciding on the publication of articles, editors take care that the articles are original and contribute to the scientific literature, readers, researchers and practitioners.
• While making positive or negative decisions about the articles, editors take into account the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the expression, and the journal's purpose and scope.
• Editors apply the policies of blind review and evaluation process, which are among the publishing policies of the journal, keep the identities of the referees confidential, and ensure that each article is evaluated objectively and within time.
• Editors send articles taking into account the field of expertise of the editors and referees, and they support the impartial and independent evaluation.
• Editors take into account whether there is a conflict of interest between the editors, referees and author (s) for unbiased evaluation of the article.
• Editors avoid unscientific evaluations that do not follow academic etiquette.
• Editors ensure that journal publishing processes are carried out in accordance with publication policies and guidelines.
• Editors protect individual data of authors, referees and readers.
• Editors pay attention to the protection of human and animal rights in the articles, they care about documenting the express consent of the participants of the article, they reject the article when they do not have the approval of the ethics committee for the participants of the article, and they do not have permission for experimental research.
• Editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies or misdirections in the articles are corrected.
• Editors protect the intellectual property rights of published articles and defend the rights of the journal and the author (s) in case of violation.
• Editors take into account the consistent criticism of the articles published in the Journal, and give the right to reply to the author (s) of the criticized articles.
• Editors also consider studies with negative results.
• Editors examine the complaints submitted to the journal and make the necessary explanations.
Ethical Responsibilities of Referees
During the manuscript evaluation process in Talim Journal, the two-way blind referee principle is applied, in which the referees of the author (s) and the referees do not recognize the authors. The referees cannot communicate directly with the authors; The article evaluation forms and the notes stated on the text and the correction requests are forwarded to the author (s) by the editors through the journal management system. Referees who will evaluate the articles submitted to the Journal should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
• Referees should only agree to evaluate articles related to their field of expertise.
• Referees should make the assessment in neutral and confidentiality.
• Nationality, gender, religious belief, political belief and commercial concerns should not spoil the neutrality of the evaluation.
• When the referees understand that there is a conflict of interest, they should refuse to evaluate the article and inform the editors.
• Referees should make the evaluation in a constructive language in accordance with academic etiquette; Avoid personal comments containing insults and hostility.
• Referees should evaluate the article, which they accept, within the time limit.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
The ethical responsibilities of the author(s) who submit an article to Talim Journal can be summarized as follows:
• Author(s) should not send an article published elsewhere or submitted for publication to Talim Journal before.
• The author(s) should correctly cite the sources they use during article writing in line with ethical principles.
• The names of persons who did not contribute to the article should not be written as authors.
• Notify the editors who have a conflict of interest or a common interest in the article for publication.
• If information or raw data are requested from the author(s) during the evaluation process, they should submit the expected information to the editors.
• The author(s) must document that the rights to use the data they use in their articles, permission for research-analysis or the consent of the participants on which they have researched.
• The author(s) should contact the editor to inform, correct or retract when they notice an error in the evaluation and early viewing or electronically published article.
• The author(s) received approval from the ethics committee for research that requires data collection through quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, questionnaires, scales, interviews, observations, focus groups, etc. The name of the ethics committee, the date and the number of the decision should be indicated on the first-last page of the candidate article and in the method section, and the document showing the ethics committee decision should be uploaded to the system with the application of the article.
• In addition, case reports should include information about obtaining consent form in the article.
• If the research has been carried out on human and animal subjects, the research should be submitted to international reports, guides etc. It should be reported that it was performed properly.
• Ethics committee approval is not required from the author(s) for review articles. However, in articles that do not require an ethics committee decision, it should be stated that an ethics committee decision is not required, on the first-last page and method section of the article.
Notifying the Editor of Non-Compliance with Ethical Principles
In Talim Journal, if an unethical situation is encountered in the journal or in an article that is in an early view or in an evaluation process that does not comply with ethical principles, it should be reported to editor@talimdergisi.com.

Ahmet Yapıcı completed his undergraduate studies in Theology (2000) and his master's degree in Sociology of Religion (2012) at Marmara University. After working at the Presidency of Religious Affairs for 10 years, he wrote imam-hatip high school vocational course books, religion course books and elective religion course books for the Ministry of National Education. He worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and director of education. Ahmet Yapıcı, who currently works as an administrator in the position of Istanbul Provincial Deputy Director of National Education, has published books such as A Man of Faith Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Tekkes and Republic, 52 Lessons Series with Our Family, and is a member of the Silver Pencils author group. Ahmet Yapıcı's research areas include religious education, family education, sociology of religion and historical figures.

Irfan Erdogan currently works at the Religious Education Department at Necmettin Erbakan University. Irfan does research in Teacher Education, Critical Thinking, Reflective Thinking and Teaching Ethics. Their most recent publication is 'Intercultural Sensitivity and Ethnocentrism Levels of Theology Students in a Turkish University Sample'.
Dr. Uysal received her first bachelor degree from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, Arabic Language and Literature in 2003 and she got her second bachelor degree from the Department of Western Languages and Literatures, American Culture and Literature in 2004. In 2023, she completed her third undergraduate education in Sociology Department at Istanbul University. In 2007, she completed her master's thesis titled "Transpersonal Psychology and Religion" in the Department of Psychology of Religion at the Social Sciences Institute of Marmara University. In 2024, she completed her Family Counseling education at Üsküdar University. She worked as an executive at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality between 2005 and 2015. From 2011 to 2012, she was a lecturer at the European Islamic University Distance Education Center, Faculty of Languages and Civilizations. She completed her doctoral thesis titled "Near Death Experiences in the Context of Psychology of Religion" at Istanbul University, Social Sciences Institute, Department of Psychology of Religion. Her first book "Awakening to Death" was published by MArmara University, Theology Faculty. Her second book was published in the field of Islamic Psychology under the title "Islamic Psychology Between Tradition and Future." She was appointed as a Research Assistant to the Department of Psychology of Religion at Istanbul University, Faculty of Theology, in 2015. She has been an Assistant Professor at Istanbul University since 2022.
1981 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. 1999’da Eyüp Anadolu İmam Hatip Lisesi’nden mezun olduktan sonra tedrisatına Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi’nde devam etti. Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’nde yüksek lisans (2006) ve doktora (2012) eğitimini tamamladı. 2009–2014 yılları arasında beş yıl süre ile Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi’nde görev aldı. 2014 yılında ise Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi’nde Yardımcı Doçent olarak göreve başladı. 2021 yılında Doçent oldu. Halen Marmara Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi’nde bu görevini sürdürmektedir.
İshak TEKİN, 1984 yılında Amasya’da doğdu. Lisans eğitimini Erciyes Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinde; yüksek lisans eğitimini aynı üniversitede Din Eğitimi alanında tamamladı. Sakarya Üniversitesi din eğitimi alanında başladığı doktora eğitimini, “İnsan-ı Kâmil Anlayışı Bağlamında Ahlak Eğitimine Kuramsal Bir Yaklaşım” başlıklı çalışması ile 2018 yılında tamamladı. 2006-2011 yılları arasında Milli Eğitim Bakanlığına bağlı okullarda Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi öğretmeni; 2011-2019 yılları arasında Eskişehir Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinde araştırma görevlisi olarak çalıştı. 2015-2016 yıllarında Giessen Üniversitesi İslam İlahiyatı ve Eğitimi Bölümü’nde (Almanya) TÜBİTAK bursiyeri olarak misafir araştırmacı statüsünde araştırmalarını sürdürdü. Ağustos 2019 tarihinden itibaren Eskişehir Üniversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesinde öğretim üyesi olarak görevine devam etmektedir. Ahlak ve değerler eğitimi, din eğitiminde program geliştirme ve
değerlendirme ile eğitim felsefesi konularında yayınlanmış makaleleri ve çeşitli sempozyumlarda sunulmuş bildirileri bulunmaktadır. Evli ve iki çocuk babasıdır.
Enes Kavas graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Istanbul Sehir University's Department of Islamic Sciences in 2020. He completed his Master's degree in 2023 from Istanbul 29 Mayis University's Department of Spiritual Counseling and Guidance with his thesis titled, "Spiritual Counseling and Guidance in the Military". He is continuing his academic studies in the Istanbul University's Doctoral Program in Religious Education, to which he was admitted in 2024. His primary academic interests and research areas focus on spiritual counseling, music therapy, and religious education. He currently serves as a researcher at the Imam Hatip Research Center (İHAMER) and contributes to various editorial processes for Talim Journal.
İLAHİYAT ATIF DİZİNİ
