EXPECTED AND OBSERVED BEHAVIORS OF THE SCHOOL PRINCIPLES IN THE FORMATION AND PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF SCHOOL CULTURE

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the expected and observed behaviors of school principles to form a school culture and presenting it to the public and to see whether there is a meaningful difference between the expected and observed behaviors. The universe of the research is composed of 251 Ministry Inspectors. A likert scale developed by the researcher applied to the Ministry Inspectors. For the data analysis, t-test was used. Results shows that for all the items on the observed and expected behavior there exists a .001 meaningful differentiation. This result shows that in terms of forming a school culture and presenting it to the public the expected behaviors of the inspectors from the school principles are higher than what they observed. In other words, the expected behaviors of school principles are gathered under “much” category, whereas the observed level of the same behaviors are gathered under the categories of “medium” and “less”.

OKUL KÜLTÜRÜNÜN OLUŞTURULMASI VE ÇEVREYE TANITILMASINDA OKUL MÜDÜRLERİNDEN BEKLENEN VE ONLARDA GÖZLENEN DAVRANIŞLAR

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul kültürünün oluşturulması ve çevreye tanıtılmasında okul müdürlerinden beklenen ve onlarda gözlenen davranışların neler olduğunu, beklenen ve gözlenen davranışlar arasında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın evrenini toplam 251 Bakanlık Müfettişi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen likert tipindeki ölçek Bakanlık Müfettişlerine uygulanmıştır. Toplanan verilerin analizinde t-testi tekniğinden yararlanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları, beklenen ve gözlenen davranışlara yönelik tüm maddelerde .001 anlamlılık düzeyinde farklılığın olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu bulgu, müfettişlerin, okul kültürünün oluşturulması ve çevreye tanıtılmasıyla ilgili olarak okul müdürlerinden bekledikleri davranışların, onlarda gözledikleri davranışlardan daha yüksek düzeyde olduğunu göstermektedir. Yani bu konuda okul müdürlerinden beklenen davranışlar “çok” kategorisinde, aynı davranışların onlarda gözlenme düzeyi ise “orta” ve “az” kategorisinde toplanmıştır.
