I enrolled in 2007 at the Yıldız Technical University Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, where I graduated in 2011. During my undergraduate studies, I attended the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Dusseldorf and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kiel University of Applied Sciences as a visiting student. I earned my master's degree in the same department in 2013. In August 2019, I completed my doctoral dissertation, titled "Performance and Size Moving Systems: Constructal Law," the same year I started it. Between January 2017 and April 2018, I was a visiting researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science (MEMS) at Duke University. After working as an R&D engineer at Istanbul Metro from 2011 to 2012, I began work as a research assistant at the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at Yildiz Technical University. Since June 2020, I have worked as an assistant professor in the same department. Between August 2021 and August 2022, I was a visiting professor at Duke University. I am an associate professor since November 2023.
Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü’nden doktora derecesi 2013 yılında aldı. Isı geçişi, termodinamik, enerji, düşük ekserji yıkımlı ısıtma-soğutma sistemleri ve binalarda alternatif ısıtma-soğutma sistemleri alanlarında çalışmalar yapmakta olup halen Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi Makine Mühendisliği Bölümünde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır.
Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Ali is currently working as an associate professor and director of renewable energy laboratory at Mechanical Engineering Department of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia. He holds a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from School of Engineering and Materials Science, Queen Mary University of London, UK. Dr. Ali was a postdoc at Water and Energy Laboratory of University of California at Merced, United States.
Dr. Ali worked extensively in the area of thermal engineering and was a director of Thermal and Clean Energy Research laboratory, Renewable Energy Research and Development Centre, Heat & Mass Transfer and Refrigeration laboratory at University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, Pakistan. He has published more than 300 articles, various books and book chapters. He has actively participated to deliver keynote and invited talks at various international conferences.
Dr. Ali is a recipient of various international awards notably Highly cited researcher award by Clarivate. He is an editorial board member at several international journals, notably Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, Applied Nanoscience, Energy Resources: Part A, Heat Transfer, Journal Thermal Science, and Journal of Mechanical Engineering.
Currently, I am a Ph.D. student and working as research assistant at Yildiz Technical University, Mechanical Engineering Department. My research area is about the enhancement of thermal-hydraulic performances of the heat exchangers during both single-phase and two-phase flows. I'm numerically and experimentally working on single-phase flow heat transfer characteristics of pure water and water based hybrid nanofluids, and flow boiling heat transfer characteristics of R-134a flowing through the helically coiled tubes with smooth and corrugated walls.
