Evaluation Process

Studies to be sent to the journal should be prepared in accordance with the spelling rules presented in this manual and author guidelines section. Submitted studies are taken into consideration by the editor in terms of purpose, subject, content, presentation style and compliance with the rules of writing. Studies are evaluated by the field editor in the second stage.

The editorial pre-evaluation criteria of the journal are as follows:

For quantitative studies;

  • Studies based on frequency, percentage, difference and relationship statistics, which include a continuous variable or two continuous variables, are evaluated according to the scope of the study.
  • Priority is given to the studies prepared using advanced statistics such as single or multiple regression, path analysis, cluster analysis.

For the studies that develop a measurement tool;

  • The authenticity of the measurement tool, its scope, the quality of the developed group, the competence of validity and reliability processes, etc. criteria are taken into consideration.

For experimental studies;

  • Priority is given to experimental research, which is supported by qualitative data from research data.

For qualitative studies;

  • The journal gives importance to the validity and reliability conditions of the research process and the in-depth analysis of the data.

For descriptive / theoretical studies;

  • The journal aims to  publish analytical studies that reveal the basic problems of educational sciences and propose solutions to them. On the other hand, these studies are not expected to be in the style of book chapters.

For mixed methods research;

  • The publication rate of the studies prepared in the mixed design is higher in our journal However, authors are expected to clearly explain why they used mixed methods. Quantitative and qualitative parts of the research are evaluated separately. Quantitative and qualitative parts are expected to meet the above criteria separately.

Also;

·     Studies based on measurement tools that are frequently used in the field and research on highly studied topics are expected to present a new orientation.

·      In the studies based on the master's thesis and doctoral dissertations, the authors are expected to present the whole study, to report all the data used in the thesis/dissertation, rather than presenting only some parts of it.

·       For all types of research, data are expected to be up-to-date. If the research data are older than than 5 years or more, the journal will not consider it for publication.

·  Corresponding author of the study whose preliminary evaluation has been completed is notified of the evaluation result. The studies that are prepared in accordance with the above-mentioned principles are taken into the referee evaluation process.

·        The editorial evaluation is completed within 4 weeks before sending a submitted study to the reviewer's evaluation.

·        Studies that pass through the editorial evaluation process are sent to at least two reviewers. In order for the manuscript to be published, it has to receive publication approval from at least two reviewers. However, this does not mean that the article will be accepted for publication. The editors and the editorial board decide if the article is suitable for publication in the journal.

·        If there is disagreement about the study in the reports of the reviewers, the editor consults to a third reviewer for evaluation.

·   The peer review process takes approximately 4-6 months. This period may be extended due to the work load of the reviewers.

·        Two-sided blind review is used in the evaluation process. Reviewer reports are confidential. The authors do not know who the reviewers are, and the reviewers do not know the author(s) of the study they are evaluating.

·        The author(s) must take into account the criticism, recommendations and corrections of the reviewers, the field editor and the editor. The author(s) should provide explanations if they disgree with the feedback. Authors are required to make the proposed corrections to the article in 4 weeks and upload the article to the journal system for post evaluation.

For details and principles of reviewer evaluation processes, refer to the reviewer guidelines section of the journal.

According to the recommendations of the reviewers, the editor chooses one of the following ways:

-may accept the study for publication, requesting partial or significant changes,

-may ask the author(s) to organize his/her work in accordance with the recommendations of the reviewer and initiate a new evaluation process,

-may reject the publication of the study.

Studies accepted for publication go through the following procedures:

·        Reviewer evaluation reports and editorial evaluations of the studies that are accepted for publication are sent to the author.

·        The journal editor reviews the revised version of the manuscript in accordance with the reviewer reports and makes a decision whether to direct the revised version of the article to the reviewers for re-evaluation or take the article to the editing process.

·        The corresponding author will be notified of the correction of his/her work and will be asked to recheck the article.

·        Articles that are organized according to the reviewer and journal criteria is sent to journal final version design.

·        Studies whose design has been completed are checked by the author for the last time and are queued for publication in the next issue.

·        Abstracts or extendedsummaries of the studies that go thorugh these processes can be pre-published online by assigning a DOI number first.
