Metaphors have been used for allusion and similitude. It also enables to reveal individuals’ mental schemas about a concept. In this direction, the purpose of this study was to reveal high schoolers’ perceptions regarding history teachers through metaphors. The participants of this study were composed of 80 students studying at high schools in Tokat during the 2017-2018 academic year. Data are compiled through students’ answers to the “history teacher is like…….Because…….”. Data are analyzed using content analysis method on phenomenology design. Findings show that high school students produced 45 valid metaphors on the concept of history teacher. These metaphors were grouped under 7 main categories, namely; “History Teacher Who Knows Everything, History Teacher Who Connect Past and Future, History Teacher Who Reflect past by living, History Teacher Who Guide (give direction) Future, History Teacher Who Brighten The Unknown, History Teacher Who is Strong/Powerful and Confident, Patriotic History Teacher. This result was discussed in respect to the aims of history teaching and some recommendations were provided for the history teacher educators.
