This study was carried out to determine the effects of plastic color, storage condition and storage period on nutrient composition and silage quality parameters of vetch+wheat silage. Vetch (Vicia sativa L) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were used as silage material.Vetch was harvested at the early flowering stage, and wheat was harvested in the milk stage. After harvested materials were ensiled by black and white plastic bags in open and closed condition for 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 days. Chemical and microbiological parameters were analyzed in silage samples during storage period. After each of opening period, aerobic stability test was applied to silage at 5 days. Silage dry matter (DM), lactic acid (LA), crude protein (CP), ash, ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), crude fiber (CF), dry matter loss, lactic acid bacteria (LAB), yeast and mold content increased during storage time. The storage period was effective on aerobic stability. Silages pH, DM, CO2, yeast and mold content of increased depending on the storage period. LA contents of silages were affected by the storage condition. LA contents of open storage condition silages were higher than close storage condition. Loss of DM and NH3-N increased depending on the duration of the silage stored in closed. While the yeast content of open silage was increasing, mold values of silage stored in closed condition were determined higher. Plastic color did not effect on fermentation and aerobic stability characteristics of silage.
