Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

ARTICLE PROCEDURES

1. Publication drafts submitted to the journal must be original articles that have not been submitted for publication in another journal and have not been published before.

2. The submitted manuscript draft must be sent with the signed copyright certificate of all authors in the application. The author of the correspondence must be specified in the copyright form, and the authors confirm the correspondence author separately by signing the copyright form. The copyrights of articles published in our journal are transferred to us through a signed document.

3. The corresponding author must be authorized in the application and all processes of the article.

4. It is important that the author does not cite themselves or another group unnecessarily in the research, review, or short notes section of the article.

5. All raw data of the article should be submitted when requested.

6. If the visual materials, such as pictures, graphics, and videos that the authors will use in the article, belong to other people other than the authors, they must both obtain permission and cite the source. Additionally, authors are required to submit necessary permission documents for subjects such as survey questions and software programs.

7. The correspondence author may suggest referees. These referees should be from different countries and institutions and should not have any connection with the submitted article. These referees may not be appointed by the editors, but they are important in providing an idea.

8. In the event of the death of one of the authors, according to the contribution made by the other authors, they will prove this situation with a document and determine among themselves the order of the authors.

9. For the article sent for publication, preferably, a chief editor or editor can be appointed if the subject is appropriate. In cases where the article load is high or the article's subject warrants it, an editor can be appointed.

10. Since the double-blind refereeing system is used, the referees cannot see the article's authors. Likewise, authors cannot see article referees.

11. Each article is sent to 3 different reviewers who are experts in their fields, and a detailed report is requested for evaluation, including both the questions in the refereeing form and the writing rules of the journal. If it is believed that one of the referees did not make an adequate evaluation, the editor sends the article to a new referee before making a decision about the article, and the editor makes the decision based on the majority.

12. If the submitted article needs to be published a second time in another language, this situation will be evaluated, and it can be evaluated in a second language and published as a translation, provided that the source is cited. This process should not be preferred unless absolutely necessary.

13. The publication status of master's and doctoral students' thesis studies should be stated in the acknowledgment section, and it is preferred that the student be the first author in the article.

14. Also, on the cover page, the author's address, e-mail, ORCID No., author contribution, ethical permission, conflict status, financial resources, data availability, and acknowledgments, if any, should be stated.

15. The referees are evaluated for each article they serve and each year by the editors, and they are updated among the people who contribute the most and make unbiased evaluations. The referees who make a decision without examining the article in detail are removed from the referee pool and the editorial board. Referee certificates are sent to referees who evaluate appropriately and fairly.

16. Editors are evaluated by authors and decided annually for each article they work on, based on the quality and evaluation of the articles.

17. Copyright of accepted articles are transferred to our journal and articles are Licenced by Creative Commons.4.0. Authors reserve the right to use the accepted article privately, copy and disribute.

Article retraction, correction status:

1. The article is sent to the statistics, spelling, and English language editors in order. Afterwards, the article is sent back to the author for correction, taking into account the editors' suggestions. The author uploads the article to the system after correction, or can withdraw the article at this stage.

2. The article sent to the journal can be withdrawn by the corresponding author without being evaluated by the referee. However, once the peer review has begun, it cannot be withdrawn. After the article is accepted, no changes can be made to the author's name, including adding, removing, or authoring.

3. The corrected article uploaded to the system is sent to 3 referees working in different institutions or countries. In the referees' evaluations, the decision is made by majority vote. If the referees request major corrections, the corresponding author accepts these corrections, makes the necessary changes, and uploads them to the system. If he/she does not accept these corrections, the article is rejected by the editor.

4. After the necessary corrections, the corresponding author uploads the article to the system within the specified period, and if he/she request time, the period is extended. The referees who request a major correction in an article uploaded to the system are re-appointed and subjected to a second referee evaluation. If the corrections requested by the referee have been made at a sufficient level, the referee accepts the article or requests a re-correction if it is not sufficient. This process continues until the majority of the reviewers decide that the article can be published after minor corrections. As a result, if the major correction request of the two referees cannot be met, the article is rejected. It is recommended to the correspondence author that, preferably, each reviewer's major correction suggestions be addressed.

5. If the authors identify missing data or an incorrect situation after publishing the article, a new issue of correction is published.

6. All articles accepted, withdrawn, or rejected papers and process reports are stored in detail in the Dergipark system.

Studies on humans and animals, the situation of harmful substances that can harm nature:

1. Research data or activities that may be harmful to national security or humans should be clearly stated. In the case of using harmful substances that may harm nature and living things, this should be clearly stated.

2. It is necessary to obtain and document the necessary permissions from the university or the official authorities of the country where the study is carried out regarding the studies to be carried out with toxic, explosive, and radioactive substances that may endanger public health. Controversial maps should be avoided.

3. If studies on people have been carried out, then a document showing that the necessary permits have been obtained and detailed information on the method of the study should be provided. In the case of animals, an ethics document should be submitted if necessary for the study. Meeting, issue no. of the ethical document required for studies on humans and animals. and its name as a university or a national commission meeting. It should be noted that the ethics certificate is not required for the studies carried out with living creatures for which the ethical certificate is not required.

To Authors:

Manuscripts that are sent to the Uludag Bee Journal must be original and should not have been published (except abstract) or under consideration elsewhere. The MS should be scanned by the ITheticate and Intihal program, and the similarity should not be over 20%. The ones over 20% are returned to the corresponding author. An agreement statement is required from all authors about the names, order, and copyright issues, which are confirmed by a signature. After the MS evaluation process is initiated or accepted, name additions, deletions, or order changes are not permitted.

Manuscripts that are sent to the Uludag Bee Journal will be checked for proper journal formatting by statistical, technical, and language editors. Suitable manuscripts are sent to three reviewers in the field for evaluation and then returned to the corresponding author for their consideration. The author can either make the necessary changes or withdraw their manuscripts. A double-blind peer review system is used to process manuscripts. A manuscript that requires major revisions is sent back to the reviewers for further approval after the revisions have been made. A final decision about the submitted manuscript is made according to reviewers’ suggestions, bearing in mind that the majority opinion will have a greater weight in the decision. All suggestions should be considered by the corresponding author in order to produce a final edition of the manuscript. Finally, the Editor-in-Chief will read the manuscript and finalize it. After the page layout process, the manuscript is returned to the corresponding author for final review before publication. Accepted manuscripts are not allowed to be withdrawn. No manuscript processing or open-access publication fees are required.
For studies that required ethics committee approval (the name of the board, number, date, and etc.) it should be stated in the method, on the first and the last page of the ms.

To Reviewers:

Reviewers are requested to review the manuscripts in detail and objectively. Reviewers are evaluated by the journal editors at the end of each year. If necessary, new reviewers are added, and some existing reviewers are removed from the referee pool. Reviewers who are determined to be proficient or above average will remain in the reviewer pool.

To Editors:

The goal of our journal is to enhance the quality of published articles and subsequently increase the journal's citation count. Therefore, the journal quality and editors will be evaluated at the end of each year by the journal editorial Board and “the Bursa Uludag University Beekeeping Development-Application and Research Center-AGAM". If necessary, editors will be changed to improve the quality of our journal.

JOURNAL CODE OF ETHICS

Draft texts for publication should be prepared in accordance with the International Committee of Publishing Ethics (COPE) and the UAK Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive. It is highly recommended that you read the following publication ethics regulation and the decisions of the International Publication Ethics Commission before submitting your draft publications to our journal for publication.
For detailed information on publication ethics, it is recommended to read the following links:

COMMITTEE ON PUBLICATION ETHICS
https://publicationethics.org

HIGHER EDUCATION BOARD SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND PUBLICATION ETHICS DIRECTIVE
https://www.yok.gov.tr/Sayfalar/Kurumsal/mevzuat/bilimsel-arastirma-ve-etik-yonetmeligi.aspx

If an ethical issue is identified regarding the article, COPE serves as a guide, and necessary actions are taken.

Plagiarism, distortion, forgery (Fabrication, Duplication, Salamisation, Data Manipulation/Falsification):

1. The report of the article sent to our journal for publication should be sent in the application using similarity programs. The editor or editors can generate a similarity report again using their own programs, and this is considered valid. Generally, "Ithenticate" and "Plagiarism" programs are used. Articles with a similarity rate of less than 20% can be published in either program. If the situation is different, if the report sent by the author and the report received by the editor differ, the editor's report is preferred. If the report sent by the author is below 20% and the report received by the editor is above 20%, the article is sent back to the author, and the similarity rate is requested to be reduced. Articles with a similarity rate below 20% will not be published.

2. If the article is found to be similar to another article by the editor or readers, the referees even though it has passed the similarity report, it will be rejected and removed from the publication page of the journal. If an ethical problem is reported by one or more referees during the evaluation process, the article will be rejected.

3. In case of plagiarism, distortion, forgery, fabrication, duplication, salamisation, data manipulation/falsification, even if one of the problems is reported by a referee with evidence, the article is rejected and sent back to the author, showing the evidence. Situations such as plagiarism, distortion, forgery, fabrication, duplication, salami slicing, and data manipulation/falsification are serious ethical crimes. Even if a suspicious situation is reported, an invitation is sent to the article's author to clarify the issue, or the article is returned to the author for review. If a suspicious case is identified in the article after acceptance, it is sent to at least three referees who are experts in the field and knowledgeable about ethical issues. If a positive report is received at the end of the examination, the process is continued. If the suspicious situation persists or ethical violations are reported, the article is rejected and sent back to the author with its proofs.

4. If it is determined that some or all data of the submitted article has been published before, it will be rejected, and the article of this author will not be processed again. If citation, distortion, or copying operations are determined after the article is published, the article is withdrawn from the system or covered. If it is necessary to quote from another publication, this sentence should be indicated with quotation marks to indicate that it is a quote, and the source should be given.

5. If the article is divided into small pieces and used for more than one publication, the article is rejected and sent back to the corresponding author. If there are quotations from the previous article in the article, it should be stated appropriately, and the source should be given. In the event that such articles are identified, the corresponding author is notified and necessary corrections are requested; if these requests are not accepted, the article is rejected. Even if the author uses his own publication, he should cite the source appropriately.

Conflict between the authors and authorship:

1. If there is a disagreement between the authors during the article process, the article is either returned according to the article process, or the proceedings are suspended until the problem is resolved between the authors. If a conflict of interest is reported between the authors, if the article is not sent to the referees, the proceedings are stopped, and the authors are requested to resolve the issue and resubmit.

2. If there is a disagreement between the authors after the article proceedings and refereeing are concluded, the article proceedings are stopped and it is waited until the issue is resolved between the authors. Adding or removing an author is not acceptable after the article is accepted. Apart from this, if there is a request to correct a mistake with the name of an author, this can be considered by the editor and can be corrected.

3. After publishing the article, if there is a development claiming to have contributed to the study and should have a name, the subject is evaluated and decided by a team of at least 3 experts who are experienced in the subject and ethics to investigate the subject. If the person whose name should be in the publication is right, the name of the following number of people or persons is added to the publication, and the correction is published.

4. If one of the authors passes away while the manuscript is in progress, the name of the author remains. If the correspondence author dies, a new correspondence author is appointed among the authors, and changes can be made in the author's name with the approval of all authors.

5. Article authors should clearly state their contributions to the study, and the article should provide sufficient contributions to be an author. Those who do not contribute enough should be included in the acknowledgment section.

6. Each of the authors of the article confirms that the author of the correspondence has given approval with the "copyright transfer document". Apart from this, article authors should be informed about the first and last versions of the article, and their approval should be obtained by the corresponding author.

7. After the article is accepted, the copyrights are transferred to our journal. The authors of the article have the right to privately copy and distribute the article of which they are the authors.

8. The articles published in our journal are under Creative Commons License and are protected by "Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International" and can be used for non-commercial purposes by attribution.

Dispute situation between editor, reviewers, and authors:

1. In case of conflict of interest between editors, referees, or authors, editors and referees are replaced by the editor-in-chief. The corresponding author may indicate on the cover page of the application those who may have a conflict of interest. The cover page is only visible to the editor-in-chief and other editors.

2. If the editor has a conflict of interest with the article authors, he or she should not be involved in this article by stating this situation. Again, if the referees have a conflict of interest with the article authors, they will disclose this situation and withdraw from the article refereeing process; another referee will then be appointed by the editor.

3. All editors, including the editor-in-chief, are evaluated by authors and decided annually by the Bursa Uludağ University-AGAM board of directors. Changes can be made if necessary.

4. The editor-in-chief has the right to reject the articles that do not comply with the writing rules or clearly violate the ethical rules, cover a small area, or are outside the scope of the journal, without sending them to other editors or referees. Survey studies are processed if they contain very comprehensive and important results.

5. In case of any ethics or conflict, all process reports of the articles available and stored in Dergipark will be used as evidence.

6. In the Dergipark system, where our journal is located, all parties (editor, referee, author) have the opportunity to evaluate each other. All positive and negative evaluations in the system can be made on the ready-made forms installed on the system without needing to see the name.
