The awareness of the tourism college students about the touristic values of Bartın province

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the awareness of the students studying in the education faculty of Bartın University about the touristic, cultural and natural values of the city they were living. The study was structured in accordance with general survey method, one of the quantitative research methods. The study was carried out upon 267 pre-service teachers studying in social sciences, science teaching, primary school teaching and Mathematics education department of the education faculty of Bartın University in 2012-2013 academic year. It was found that the attitudes of the pre-service teachers towards the touristic and cultural values of Bartın province showed great variation according to their departments and their genders. However the knowledge levels of the participants about the natural and cultural values were found to show no significant variation with gender. It was also concluded that the knowledge levels of the pre–service teachers studying in elementary education department about the touristic values of the province were higher than the ones studying in the science teaching department. The knowledge levels of the second years students were also higher that the first years students.

Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Bartın’ın Doğal ve Kültürel Turizm Değerlerine Yönelik Farkındalıkları

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, Bartın Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi’nde öğrenim gören öğrencilerin yaşadıkları kentte bulunan doğal ve kültürel turizm değerlerine yönelik farkındalık düzeylerini belirlemektir. Araştırma, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden genel tarama modelinde yapılandırılmıştır. Araştırma, 2012-2013 öğretim yılında Bartın Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi sosyal bilgiler, fen bilgisi, sınıf öğretmenliği ve ilköğretim matematik öğretmenliği bölümlerinde öğrenim gören 267 öğretmen adayı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre üniversite öğrencilerinin Bartın ilinin doğal ve kültürel turizm değerlerine yönelik tutumları cinsiyet ve öğrenim gördükleri bölümler açısından farklılık göstermektedir. Yine katılımcıların doğal ve kültürel turizm değerlerine yönelik bilgi düzeyleri ile cinsiyetleri arasında anlamlı bir ilişkinin olmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca sınıf öğretmenliği bölümünde okuyan öğrencilerin bilgi düzeyinin fen bilgisi öğretmenliği bölümünde okuyanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan ikinci sınıf öğrencilerinin söz konusu değerlere yönelik bilgi düzeylerinin birinci sınıfta öğrenim görenlere oranla daha yüksek olduğu görülmektedir.
