Abstract

The study examines the impact of intellectual and industrial property rights on international trade. In an increasingly globalized economy, securing intellectual property is essential for fostering innovation and maintaining competitive advantages. Using panel data analysis covering 68 countries from 2007 to 2023, the study investigates the relationship between intellectual property rights, trade volume, foreign direct investment, and economic growth. The findings indicate that countries with stronger intellectual property protection experience higher trade volumes and enhance competitiveness in global markets. Additionally, intellectual property rights demonstrate a reciprocal relationship with GDP and foreign investment flows. These results suggest that strengthening intellectual property protection mechanisms can support economic growth and innovation. Policy recommendations focus on enhancing the enforcement of intellectual property rights and developing regulatory frameworks that contribute to the sustainable expansion of international trade.

Uluslararası Ticarette Fikri ve Sınai Mülkiyet Haklarının Rolü: Küresel Rekabetin Yeni Boyutları

Abstract

Bu çalışma, fikri ve sınai mülkiyet haklarının uluslararası ticaret üzerindeki etkisini analiz etmektedir. Küreselleşen ekonomilerde, inovasyonun teşvik edilmesi ve rekabet avantajının korunması için fikri mülkiyetin güvence altına alınması büyük önem taşımaktadır. Çalışmada, 68 ülkenin 2007-2023 dönemi verileri kullanılarak panel veri analizi yapılmış ve fikri mülkiyet haklarının ticaret hacmi, doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar ve ekonomik büyüme ile ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Bulgular, güçlü fikri mülkiyet korumasına sahip ülkelerde ticaret hacminin arttığını ve bu ülkelerin uluslararası piyasalarda daha rekabetçi olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca, fikri mülkiyet haklarının gayrisafi yurtiçi hasıla ve yabancı yatırım akışları ile karşılıklı bir etkileşim içinde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar, fikri mülkiyet koruma mekanizmalarının güçlendirilmesinin ekonomik kalkınmayı destekleyebileceğini göstermektedir. Politika yapıcılar için öneriler, fikri mülkiyet haklarının daha etkin korunması ve uluslararası ticaretin sürdürülebilir büyümesine katkı sağlayacak düzenlemelerin geliştirilmesine odaklanmaktadır.
