Düzenli Fiziksel Aktivite Sosyal Onay Düzeyi Üzerinde Etkili Midir?

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 139 - 147, 19.08.2024

Abstract

Is Regular Physical Activity Effective on Level of Social Approval?

Year 2024, Volume: 3 Issue: 2, 139 - 147, 19.08.2024

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the social approval levels of university students in terms of physical activity status, as well as to identify the many demographic parameters that influence the level of social acceptance. The study group has 261 students, 119 male and 141 female, from various faculties. The data of the study were obtained by an online questionnaire using the "Personal Information Form" and the "Need for Social Approval Scale". In statistical analyses, data were initially scanned for multivariate outliers and normal distribution. In normally distributed data, MANOVA analysis was performed to compare the differences between variables. In the findings of the analyzes, it was seen that there were significant differences in the need for social approval in terms of activity status and activity frequency, while there was no significant difference in terms of gender and age. As a result, in our study, it was determined that physical activity and exercise frequency were effective factors on the level of social approval. In this context, it is thought that those who participate in physical activity are affected by external factors, that is, they are sensitive to the judgments of others and tend to create a positive impression on the environment. In this direction, it is thought that various programs should be developed to meet the social approval needs of university students in a controlled and planned manner.
