Abstract
One of the important factors that have affected Turkish foreign policy in the postCold War period is the Kurdish problem. The Kurdish problem, indeed, has a great impact on the general vision, internal dynamics and bilateral relations of Turkish foreign policy. Particularly, the threat it has created for national unity and territorial integrity as well as its international dimension have made it the most important problem of the foreign policy, which needs to be solved urgently. Besides, the fact that Kurdish problem serves as a suitable tool to be used against Turkey by paving the way for foreign power involvement in Turkish internal affairs restricts capacities and capabilities of Turkey in the international arena. Great difficulties caused by the issue in Turkey’s relations with the Middle Eastern and Western countries also underline its importance in the Turkish foreign policy. Consequently, by affecting international position of Turkey, the cluster of these problems create a certain number of deadlocks in its foreign affairs, and even impose on it foreign policies that involve big risks in terms of national interest and security in the mid and long term
