Scientific Publication Performance of Restorative Dentistry Faculty Members: Bibliometric Analysis Based on the Council of Higher Education Academic Data

Abstract

Objectives The aim of this study is to bibliometrically evaluate the publication performance of academics working in the field of Restorative Dentistry in Türkiye over the last 5-year, considering variables such as title, gender, and institution. Furthermore, this study aims to present a holistic view of the current academic profile of the field by revealing quantitative and qualitative indicators of scientific productivity. Material and Methods This bibliometric study retrospectively examined the scientific publications of academics working in the field of Restorative Dentistry in Türkiye between 2021 and 2025, using the Council of Higher Education (CHE) Academy database. Publications were classified according to title, gender, institution, journal index type (SCI/ESCI/TR Dizin), and journal quartile (Q1-Q4), and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results The scientific publications of faculty members working in the field of Restorative Dentistry in Türkiye between 2021 and 2025 were examined using data from the CHE Academy. The findings indicate that, across all academic ranks, female academics have a higher representation within the academic staff. While the number of faculty members varied among institutions, some universities were found to have made significant contributions to publications in SCI-indexed and Q1 journals. A significant portion of the examined publications were indexed in international data bases, and Q1-Q2 journals held a considerable share of the total publications. Conclusion This study has shown that the scientific productivity of faculty members in the field of Restorative Dentistry in Türkiye over the last 5-year has been concentrated around prominent institutions and academic titles. The findings revealed that publications in internationally indexed and high-impact journals significantly contribute to the academic visibility of the field.

Restoratif Diş Tedavisi Öğretim Üyelerinin Bilimsel Yayın Performansı: Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu Akademi Verilerine Dayalı Bibliyometrik Analiz

Öz

Amaç Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de Restoratif Diş Tedavisi alanında görev yapan akademisyenlerin son 5 yıla ait yayın performansını unvan, cinsiyet ve kurum değişkenleri açısından bibliyometrik olarak değerlendirmektir. Ayrıca, bu çalışma, bilimsel üretkenliğin nicel ve nitel göstergelerini ortaya koyarak alanın güncel akademik profilini bütüncül biçimde ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir. Gereç ve Yöntemler Bu bibliyometrik çalışmada, Türkiye’de Restoratif Diş Tedavisi alanında görev yapan akademisyenlerin 2021-2025 yılları arasındaki bilimsel yayınları, YÖK Akademi veritabanı kullanılarak retrospektif olarak incelenmiştir. Yayınlar; unvan, cinsiyet, kurum, dergi indeks türü (SCI/TR Dizin) ve dergi çeyrek dilimi (Q1-Q4) açısından sınıflandırılarak tanımlayıcı istatistikler ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular 2021-2025 yılları arasında Türkiye’de Restoratif Diş Tedavisi alanında görev yapan öğretim üyelerinin bilimsel yayınları YÖK Akademi verileri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Bulgular, tüm akademik unvanlar açısından kadro yoğunluğunun kadın akademisyenler lehine daha yüksek bir oranda gerçekleştiğini göstermektedir. Kurumlar arasında öğretim üyesi sayıları farklılık göstermekle birlikte, bazı üniversi telerin SCI indeksli ve Q1 dergilerde yayımlanan yayınlara yüksek katkı sağladığı belirlenmiştir. İncelenen yayınların önemli bir kısmının uluslararası indekslerde yer aldığı ve Q1-Q2 dergilerin toplam yayınlar içinde dikkate değer bir paya sahip olduğu saptanmıştır. Sonuç Bu çalışma, Türkiye’de Restoratif Diş Tedavisi alanındaki öğretim üyelerinin son beş yıldaki bilimsel üretkenliğinin belirgin kurumlar ve akademik unvanlar etrafında yoğunlaştığını göstermiştir. Bulgular, uluslararası indeksli ve yüksek etki değerine sahip dergilerdeki yayınların alanın akademik görünürlüğüne önemli katkı sağladığını ortaya koymuştur.
