Öz

Thin-Iayer chromatography (TLC) is the preferred method for screening benzodiazepines and their metabolites. The procedure involves hydrolysis to yield aminobenzophenone derivatives, which are then extracted, separated by TLC and photolytically dealkylated. The products are diazotized and coupled with aze-dye (e.g. the Bratton-Marshall reagent). The method has aıready been applied to numerous benzodiazepines (l -S) and its specificity established (6).
