Samples of saliva from 39 donors (33 secretors) were investigated in order to see if time of day, provisions, medications and/or infections affected the determination of the ABO-blood-groups. The phenomenon of aberrant secretion was not seen. The secreted H-substance showed evident intra- and interindividual differences in degree of agglutination independent of natural stimuli, medications or infections, but obviously dependent of the time of day. On the average, most of the donors showed highest aClivity in the moming and least activity in the afternoon. Several hypothetic interpretations of this
phenomenon are discussed.
