This study aims to examine the movie Shattered Soul within the framework of DSM-5 Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) diagnostic criteria. The study was conducted within the framework of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria sub-dimensions of dissociative identity disorder, dissociative amnesia, depersonalization/derealization disorder, other specified disorders, and unspecified dissociation disorder. Document analysis was used as the data collection method in the study. In this context, the researchers watched the movie separately and conducted detailed analyses in line with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. Specifically, psychological states were assessed by identifying dissociative symptoms—such as identity disruption, amnesia, and depersonalization/ derealization—through systematic observation of the characters’ verbal expressions, emotional fluctuations, behavioral shifts, and facial gestures in the film. The scenes were analyzed using a content analysis technique, and each observation was coded based on its correspondence to DSM-5 diagnostic indicators. These analyses of the film's main characters aim to reveal their psychological states and how they can be evaluated in accordance with the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. In particular, dissociative symptoms such as dissociative identity disorder, dissociative amnesia, and depersonalization/derealization disorders were examined through the identity behaviors and the events they experienced. The psychological traumas experienced by each character and the resulting dissociative symptoms were categorized and analyzed within the framework of DSM-5 criteria. The findings of the study reveal that the psychological problems experienced by the main characters of the film show significant dissociative symptoms according to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. In this context, Shattered Soul was evaluated as a cinematographic reflection of dissociative identity disorder and other dissociative disorders. The study offers significant insights into the relationship between cinema and psychiatry, providing an in-depth psychological analysis of film characters.
