Birleşmiş Milletler’in 2025 yılı “Children and Armed Conflict” raporundan elde edilen veriler, çocukların yaşam hakkı, eğitim, sağlık, korunma ve sosyo-ekonomik koşullar bağlamında maruz kaldıkları ağır ihlalleri ortaya koymaktadır.

THE IMPACT OF WAR ON CHILDREN: A STUDY IN THE CONTEXT OF CHILDREN'S RIGHTS IN AFRICA

This study examines the impact of armed conflicts in Africa on children's rights. Data from the United Nations' 2025 report on ‘Children and Armed Conflict’ reveals the severe violations children face in terms of their right to life, education, health, protection and socio-economic conditions. According to the findings, the killing and maiming of children has been particularly high in Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia, while the use of child soldiers and cases of sexual violence have been notable in Nigeria and the Central African Republic. Furthermore, attacks on educational institutions, obstruction of access to healthcare, and mass displacement of children are widespread. The study shows that wars have a lasting negative impact on children's physical and psychosocial development. Consequently, it emphasises the need for international cooperation, child-friendly policies, and strengthened sustainable peace efforts to protect children's rights.
