Having a meaningful life is considered important for people's mental health. The meaning of life can be effective on psychological well-being. However, little is known about the factors affecting the relationship between meaning of life and psychological well-being. In this context, it is considered that compassion may play an important role in the relationship between meaning of life and psychological well-being. Therefore, this study examined the moderating role of compassion in the relationship between meaning of life and psychological well-being in university students. 288 university students participated in the study. Personal information form, Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Psychological Well-Being Scale and Adult Compassion Scale were applied to the participants. The data obtained were analysed by performing correlation and regression analyses in SPSS package programm. According to the results of the analyses, there is a significant positive relationship between the meaning of life and psychological well-being. There is also a significant positive relationship between compassion and psychological well-being. Finally, compassion has a moderating role in the relationship between meaning of life and psychological well-being. Accordingly, it can be recommended that universities organize activities in which students can participate in value-based, meaning-oriented, and compassion-focused awareness practices, and that training programs be planned to help undergraduate students develop skills that support their psychological well-being and compassionate approaches.
