While leadership is about influencing followers, the concept of self-leadership is about increasing one's own performance by influencing oneself. Innovativeness aims to create innovation by generating ideas at individual and group level. Collective efficacy requires members to act together with conviction to achieve a common goal. Self-leadership is individual, innovation is individual and group, and collective efficacy is a concept that requires individuals to act together as a group. This study examined whether collective efficacy mediates the relationship between self-leadership and innovativeness.
In the study, firstly, domestic and foreign literature was reviewed. Research data were collected from 555 tradesmen and craftsmen business owners who continue their activities in Kahramanmaraş using the survey technique. The data obtained were analyzed through SPSS. Within the scope of the analysis, frequency, reliability, factor analysis, correlation, hierarchical regression and process macro analyses were conducted. According to the direct effect analysis results; self-leadership has a significant effect on innovativeness, self-leadership has a significant effect on collective efficacy, collective efficacy has a significant effect on innovativeness, self-leadership and collective efficacy together have a significant effect on innovativeness and the level of effect decreases (β=.485 to β=.444; adjusted R2 .243 to .255) significantly. In the indirect effect analysis, it was found that the indirect effect of self-leadership on innovativeness together with collective efficacy was also significant (β = 0.670; CI: 0.0216, 0.1148). As a result of the evaluation of both direct effect and indirect effect findings together, it is seen that collective efficacy has a mediating effect in the relationship between self-leadership and innovativeness.
