Imposter thoughts, or the belief that others are overly positive about an individual’s abilities, are a variable that has been shown to have negative effects on employees. On the other hand, evidence on the effects of imposter thoughts on workplace consumption decisions is limited. This research aims to reveal the possible impact of academics’ imposter thoughts on their influence management behaviours through their dressing choices at work. To this end, a convenience sampling online survey was conducted with academics. Structural validity, reliability, normal distribution, and influence analyses were conducted on the obtained data using IBM SPSS and AMOS programs. As a result, it was determined that academics' imposter thoughts positively affected their influence management through clothing choices at work. This finding is considered beneficial for better understanding employee behaviours in the workplace, identifying specific psychological problems at employees, and understanding consumer behaviour in an organizational context. Finally, the research findings were interpreted, and recommendations were developed for practitioners and researchers.
