Applicability of E-Portfolio Systems in Preschool Education: EBA Platform Example

Öz

The objective of the present study is to examine the functionality, utilisation process and outcomes of the EBA e-portfolio system in the context of pre-school education. In the present study, which was conducted using a case study approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight early childhood educators and two parents. In addition, the EBA e-portfolio web platform was analysed through a document analysis. The data has been analysed using a technique that examines the content in greater detail, and the results of this analysis have been presented in a thematic format. The investigation has revealed that, whilst the system has the capacity to document and monitor student development, there are issues with its utilisation by teachers, as well as a paucity of evaluation tools and technical infrastructure. Parents reported a lack of awareness regarding the process and encountered challenges in accessing the system. An evaluation of the web platform revealed deficiencies in three key areas: functionality, accessibility, and mechanisms for parental information. The findings of the research suggest that, in order for the EBA e-portfolio system to function as an effective evaluation and communication tool in the field of preschool education, it is essential to enhance the training provided to users. It was determined that there is a necessity to resolve technical issues and enhance pedagogical functionality.

Okul Öncesi Eğitimde E-Portfolyo Sistemlerinin Uygulanabilirliği: EBA Platformu Örneği

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi eğitimde kullanılan EBA e-portfolyo sisteminin işlevselliğini, kullanım sürecini ve bu sürecin çocuklar ile eğitim ortamı üzerindeki yansımalarını incelemektir. Nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması yöntemiyle yürütülen çalışmada, sekiz okul öncesi öğretmeni ve iki ebeveyn ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiş; ayrıca EBA e-portfolyo web platformu doküman analizi yoluyla değerlendirilmiştir. Veriler içerik analizi tekniğiyle çözümlenmiş ve elde edilen bulgular tematik olarak sunulmuştur. Bulgular, sistemin öğrenci gelişimini belgeleme ve izleme açısından potansiyel sunduğunu, ancak öğretmenler açısından kullanım zorluğu, sınırlı değerlendirme araçları ve teknik altyapı eksiklikleri gibi sorunlar içerdiğini ortaya koymuştur. Ebeveynler ise süreç hakkında yeterince bilgilendirilmediklerini ve sisteme erişim konusunda zorluklar yaşadıklarını ifade etmiştir. Web platformunun analizinde değerlendirme çeşitliliği, platformun işlevselliği ve ebeveyn bilgilendirme mekanizmaları açısından yetersiz olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, EBA e-portfolyo sisteminin okul öncesi eğitimde etkili bir değerlendirme ve iletişim aracı olabilmesi için kullanıcı eğitimlerinin artırılması, teknik sorunların giderilmesi ve pedagojik işlevselliğin güçlendirilmesi gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
