The dream still remains unknown to humanity. Looking at history, it is seen that dreams have a special place in both the East and the West. The interpretation of dreams is important especially in terms of revealing the difference of mentality in Eastern and Western societies. There are notable studies on dreams in the East and the West. When these studies are examined, it is understood that although the East and the West value the dream, the meaning they attribute to it is in different dimensions. From Ibn Sirin's work in the seventh century until today, works called "Tâbirname" that interpret dreams have been written. In Turkish literature, works based on mystical interpretations of dreams have been written. In the West, the dream has been tried to be based on a scientific basis. In addition to these one-sided studies, there is a need for multidimensional studies that collectively evaluate the East and West's view of dreams. In order to meet this need, we see that Avanzâde Mehmet Süleyman, one of the intellectuals of the Constitutional Period, wrote a work called Muabbir yahut Yeni ve Mükemmel Tâbirname (The Dream Interpreter or the New and Perfect Interpretation). In this period, the author wrote in a wide area ranging from pharmacy to health, from popular science to occult sciences, from literature to popular history, and thus aimed to educate the public. It is necessary to evaluate the work in question in this context. In this study, the work of Avanzâde Mehmet Süleyman called Muabbir yahut Yeni ve Mükemmel Tâbirname is emphasized. It has been tried to reveal the answers to the questions such as why the author wrote such a work, what sources he used while writing this work, what purpose the work served in terms of society.
