In the context of Gerbner's theory of cultural indicators, a research on contents of television news
Öz
Along with the developing mass media, communication refers to production and distribution of organizational, institutional, managerial, intellectual content in a planned manner. The television, which entered the human life with the first half of the 20th century, has increased the number of viewers day by day since it started regular publications. Despite the existence of different mass media today, both the ease of access and the constantly renewed content are contributing to the importance of television. It is also known that television, which performs functions such as giving news, entertainment, education and socialization for individuals, also has the functions of creating public opinion, controlling the public and creating perceptions about the events. In addition to the events included in the news bulletins of the TV channels examined in the research, the distribution of the actors subject to the news of these television channels is emphasized. In the context of the role of the mass media in perception and in the context of Gerbner's theory of cultural indicators, it will be tried to analyze the statistical distribution of these subjects and actors by specifying the topics that are highlighted in news programs between the specified dates. The data obtained from the main news bulletins of the TV channels examined in the study were analyzed through using statistical software.
