The Predictive Power of University Students’ Positive-Negative Moods in Their Psychological WellBeing
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the predictive power of university students’ positive-negative
moods in their psychological well-being. The sample consisted of 188 undergraduate students from Faculty
of Education at Gazi University. Positive-Negative Emotion Scale (Watson, Clark, & Fellegen, 1988) and
Psychological Well-Being Scale (Ryff, 1989) were used to collect data which were then analyzed by Pearson moment
correlation and regression. Results revealed that positive emotions predicted positive relations with others only while
negative emotions predicted all under psychological well-being. Results were discussed in light of the recent
literature, and suggestions were made for further research and counseling practices.
