Öz

The phenomenon of migration, as a global dynamic affecting almost all states and societies worldwide today, necessitates mutual interaction processes from a cultural perspective. In this frame, this study will examine the effects of individuals' Turkish language proficiency and duration of stay in Türkiye on their levels of sociocultural adaptation, as well as the acting as intermediary role of media usage in the relationship. The research was designed as a field study conducted with 419 participants in Konya, Türkiye, using a quantitative approach. The data collected were evaluated using the statistical analysis program, SPSS 25. The analysis findings show that the variables of length of stay in Türkiye and Turkish language proficiency have a significant and positive relationship with the level of sociocultural adaptation. Furthermore, it was found that media usage has mediating effects on this relationship.

Öz

Göç olgusu, günümüzde dünya genelinde hemen hemen tüm devletleri ve toplumları etkileyen küresel bir dinamik olarak, kültürel açıdan da karşılıklı etkileşim süreçlerini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede yürütülen çalışmada, bireylerin Türkçe dil yeterliliği ile Türkiye’de bulunma sürelerinin sosyokültürel adaptasyon düzeyleri üzerindeki etkileri ve bu ilişkide medya kullanımının aracılık rolü incelenmiştir. Araştırma, nicel yöntem yaklaşımıyla Türkiye evreninde Konya örneklemi üzerinden 419 katılımcı ile gerçekleştirilen bir saha çalışması şeklinde tasarlanmıştır. Toplanan veriler istatistiksel analiz programı olan SPSS 25 aracılığıyla değerlendirilmiştir. Analiz bulguları, Türkiye’de kalma süresi ve Türkçe dil yeterliliği değişkenlerinin sosyokültürel adaptasyon düzeyi ile anlamlı ve pozitif yönlü bir ilişki içinde olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca, medya kullanımının bu ilişki üzerinde aracılık etkisi bulunduğu da tespit edilmiştir.
