Proactive Personality and Entrepreneurial Passion: The Mediating Role of Innovativeness

Öz

This study investigates the mediating effect of innovativeness in the relationship between proactive personality and entrepreneurial passion. Entrepreneurship is a growing and expanding concept in the literature, which is very important today. Entrepreneurial passion, on the other hand, refers to the passion of entrepreneurs in the dimensions of individual inventing, founding, and developing. In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in entrepreneurial passion in the entrepreneurship literature. Entrepreneurs should be people who can think outside the boundaries and act proactively. The effect of proactive personality structure on entrepreneurial passion constitutes the first part of this research. Innovation can be vitally important for entrepreneurs and businesses. The second part of this research is the influence of proactive personality and innovativeness on entrepreneurial passion. The research collected data from 555 tradesmen and artisans business owners in Kahramanmaraş. Firstly, validity and reliability analyses of the scales and correlation analyses were performed to determine the direction and severity of the relationship between the variables. Amos were used to verify the hypotheses. The findings obtained as a result of the analyses show that proactive personality has a direct effect on entrepreneurial passion. In addition, innovativeness mediated the relationship between proactive personality and entrepreneurial passion. As the level of proactive personality increases in entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial passion also increases. The presence of innovativeness, together with a proactive personality, increases entrepreneurial passion even more.

Proaktif Kişilik ve Girişimcilik Tutkusu: Yenilikçiliğin Aracı Etkisi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı proaktif kişilik ile girişimcilik tutkusu ilişkisinde yenilikçiliğin aracı etkisini araştırmaktır. Girişimcilik günümüzde oldukça önem kazanan literatürde büyüyerek genişleyen bir kavramdır. Girişimcilik tutkusu ise girişimcilerin bireysel olarak icat etme, kurma, geliştirme boyutlarındaki tutkularını ifade etmektedir. Girişimcilik literatürü içerisinde girişimcilik tutkusuna da son yıllarda artan bir ilginin olduğu görülmektedir. Girişimcilerin sınırların dışında düşünüp proaktif olarak hareket edebilen kişiler olması istenen bir durumdur. Proaktif kişilik yapısının girişimcilik tutkusu üzerindeki etkisi bu araştırmanın ilk bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. Yenilikçilik ise girişimciler ve işletmeler için hayati derece önemli olabilmektedir. Bu araştırmada proaktif kişilik yapısına sahip kişilerin yenilikçilik ile birlikte girişimcilik tutkusu üzerindeki etki düzeyi araştırmanın ikinci bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada Kahramanmaraş’taki 555 esnaf ve sanatkâr işletme sahibinden veriler toplanmıştır. Öncelikle ölçeklerin geçerlilik, güvenilirlik, değişkenler arasındaki ilişkinin yönü ve şiddetini belirlemek için korelasyon analizleri yapılmıştır. Hipotezleri doğrulayabilmek için Amos kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucu elde edilen bulgular proaktif kişiliğin girişimcilik tutkusu üzerinde doğrudan etkiye sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca yenilikçiliğin proaktif kişilik girişimcilik tutkusu ilişkisinde aracı etkiye sahip olduğu bulunmuştur. Girişimcilerde proaktif kişilik düzeyi arttıkça girişimcilik tutku düzeyleri de artmaktadır. Proktif kişilik ile birlikte yenilikçiliğin de olması girişimcilik tutkusunun daha da fazla artmasını sağlamaktadır.

Araştırma için Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler etik kurulu tarafından 31.10.2018 tarih ve 1 sayılı etik kurul onayı alınmıştır. Yazarlar çalışmaya eşit oranda katkı sağlamıştır. Bu çalışmada herhangi bir potansiyel çıkar çatışması bulunmamaktadır.
