Sporcularda Sosyal-Duygusal Öğrenme Becerileri ile Zenofobik Tutumlar Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Öz

Bu araştırmanın amacı, sporcuların sosyal-duygusal öğrenme becerileri ile yabancı düşmanlığı tutumları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. İlişkisel tarama desenindeki araştırmanın örneklemini, kolay ulaşılabilir örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen, İstanbul’da ikamet eden ve 18 yaş ve üzerinde olan 188 lisanslı sporcu oluşturmuştur. Katılımcıların 124’ü erkek, 64’ü kadındır. Veriler Kasım 2024’te Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Yabancı Düşmanlığı Tutum Ölçeği ve Sosyal Duygusal Öğrenme Ölçeği Genç Yetişkin Formu kullanılarak yüz yüze ve çevrim içi toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistikler, bağımsız gruplar t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve Pearson korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Sosyal-duygusal öğrenme puanlarında cinsiyet ve yaş gruplarına göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık saptanmamıştır. Sosyal-duygusal öğrenme toplam puanı, bireysel sporcuların takım sporcularına ve amatör sporcuların profesyonel ve elit sporculara kıyasla daha yüksektir. Sosyal-duygusal öğrenme toplam puanı ile grup merkezcilik arasında zayıf ve negatif yönlü anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur. Sorumlu karar verme ve ilişki becerileri de grup merkezcilikle negatif yönlü ilişkilidir. Diğer gruplara tolerans ile sosyal-duygusal öğrenme toplam ve alt boyut puanları arasında anlamlı ilişki saptanmamıştır. Bulgular, sosyal-duygusal öğrenmenin bazı bileşenlerinin daha düşük grup merkezcilikle ilişkili olduğunu göstermektedir. İlişkilerin zayıf olması ve araştırmanın kesitsel deseni, nedensel çıkarımları sınırlandırmaktadır.

Investigation of the Relationship Between Social-Emotional Learning Skills and Xenophobic Attitudes Among Athletes

Öz

This study examined the relationship between athletes’ social-emotional learning skills and xenophobic attitudes. Using a correlational design, the study included 188 licensed athletes aged 18 years and older residing in Istanbul, recruited through convenience sampling. The participants comprised 124 men and 64 women. Data were collected in November 2024 through face-to-face and online administration of a Personal Information Form, the Xenophobia Scale, and the Social Emotional Learning Scale–Young Adult Form. Analyses included descriptive statistics, independent-samples t tests, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlations. Social-emotional learning scores did not differ significantly by gender or age group. Total social-emotional learning scores were higher among individual-sport athletes than team-sport athletes and among amateur athletes than professional and elite athletes. Total social-emotional learning scores showed a weak, statistically significant negative correlation with group-centrism. Responsible decision-making and relationship skills were also negatively associated with group-centrism. Tolerance toward other groups was not significantly associated with total social-emotional learning scores or any of its subscale scores. The findings suggest that certain components of social-emotional learning are associated with lower group-centrism. The weak associations and cross-sectional design limit causal interpretations.
