In today's world, it is not sufficient for organizations to only fulfill the tasks specified in the job description. It is expected that employees within the organization exhibit behaviors beyond what is expected of them. This situation requires employees to take on their responsibilities and take action when necessary. In other words, the ability of employees to take initiative is among the behaviors expected from employees today. In a study conducted to examine the theses conducted in Turkey regarding the ability to take initiative, the question of "What are the contents of the theses conducted in Turkey regarding the ability to take initiative?" was investigated. For this purpose, a scanning model was used in the study. Ten theses registered in the Higher Education Council Thesis Documentation Center were included in the research. The theses included in the study were examined one by one using the "Thesis Examination Form." In this context, the distribution of the theses according to years, universities, selected sample types, methods used, data collection and analysis methods was examined. As a result of the research, it was found that the theses related to the ability to take initiative were not conducted before 2012, most theses were conducted in 2019, the theses were generally conducted to examine the skills of school principals, the relational scanning model was mostly chosen as the research method, various statistical methods were selected for this purpose, but t-test and ANOVA statistics were used in all studies. Additionally, it was observed in the study that no studies were conducted on the development of the ability to take initiative, and it was suggested that practical studies could be conducted in this regard to develop this skill. According to the research results, it was also recommended that studies be conducted to examine the initiative-taking skills of teachers, students, and parents, as the theses were generally conducted to examine the skills of school principals.
