Öz

About percent of 37 young people in the 15-19 between the ages in Turkey has been living in rural areas. It has been seemed significant how to determine the perceptions of urban these young people’ who are living rural areas and candidates of university students. Accordingly, determining students’ concept of metaphors, how they understand life in the city, what they expect and drawback from city life, about information of university life, the city challenges, the attractiveness of the city, the city gains, impairment losses are thought to help resolve many problems may occur. In the research, it has been used the focus group interview of method is an important techniques in the qualitative data collection. The study group who was carried out interviews (f = 18) is determined according to maximum variation sampling method in the study. It was used content analysis method to analyze the qualitative data in the research. According to the findings from the study, it has seen that university students' perception of city, urbanization and life in the city are not very similar. At the end of the qualitative analysis, it was reached some main themes such as “development”, “diversity”, “distress and difficulty in communication” related to the urban concept.

KIRSAL KESİMDE İKAMET EDEN LİSANS ÖĞRENCİLERİN ŞEHİR ALGILARI: NİTEL BİR ANALİZ Perceptions of Undergraduate Students Residing in Rural Areas City: A Qualitative Analysis

Öz

Türkiye'de 15-19 yaş aralığındaki genç nüfusun yaklaşık %37'si kırsal alanlarda yaşamaktadır. Üniversiteli adayı olan ve kırsal kesimde ikamet eden bu gençlerin şehir algılarının nasıl olduğu belirlemek anlamlı görünmektedir. Buna göre kırsal alanlarda yaşayan ve aynı zamanda büyük şehirlerde üniversite okumak isteyen öğrencilerin şehir kavramına ilişkin metaforları, şehir yaşamından ne anladıklarını, üniversite yaşamı, şehir zorlukları, şehir çekiciliği, şehir kazanımları, değer kayıpları hakkında bilgileri tespit etmek; ortaya çıkabilecek birçok sorunun çözümlenmesine yardımcı olabileceği düşünülmektedir. Bu araştırmayla üniversiteye yeni başlayan kırsal kesimlerden gelen öğrencilerin şehir algıları nitel araştırma yöntemiyle ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada nitel veri toplamada önemli bir veri toplama tekniği olan odak grup görüşme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada görüşmelerin gerçekleştirildiği öğrenciler (f=18) "maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme" yöntemine göre belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada nitel verilerin çözümlenmesinde ise içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre, üniversiteli öğrencilerin şehir, şehirleşme, şehirlerde yaşam algılarının çok benzer olmadıkları görülmüştür. Yapılan nitel çözümlemeler sonucunda, şehir kavramına ilişkin gelişmişlik, çeşitlilik, sıkıntı ve iletişim zorluğu ana temalarına ulaşılmıştır.
