A Special Collection of Safavid Ceramics: Ceramics of Ardabil Origin in Tabriz Azerbaijan Museum

Öz

The Safavids (1501-1736) are among the prominent states in the history of Islam with their contributions to artistic interaction with the works they produced in both architecture and handcrafts, and the richness of the styles they created.The innovations seen in this period, especially in ceramic art, opened the door to a new phase in Iranian ceramic art. In this article, we introduced ceramic works, originating from the Ardabil Sheikh Safi al-Din Lodge (Khanegah) Chini Khaneh (House of Chinaware) in the Tabriz Azerbaijan Museum collection, in which includes a group of works consisting of blue and white, colored glaze and celadon which have a great place among Safavid ceramics. This original collection, which consists of around thirty works in various forms such as plates, bowls, jars (cubes) and rosettes bearing Chinese and Timurid influences, presents rich examples of the ceramic art of the period. The collection, reflecting characteristics of the period, especially these blue and white ceramics, which are important examples of the art school called "Tabriz School" in the field of tile-ceramic, draws attention with compositions created by its simple floral ornaments and by simple animal figures. In most of these ceramics, there are inscriptions belonging to the waqfiyya (endowment charter) of Shah Abbas I., which can be considered as records reflecting the artistic patronage of the Safavids. In this context, in this article, the Safavid period ceramics of Ardabil origin in Tabriz Azerbaijan Museum were associated with the Tabriz School and evaluated in terms of technique, color, pattern and style.

Safevi Seramiklerine Dair Bir Koleksiyon: Tebriz Azerbaycan Müzesi’ndeki Erdebil Seramikleri

Safeviler (1501-1736) hem mimaride hem de el sanatlarında ortaya koydukları eserlerle sanatsal etkileşime olan katkıları ve yarattıkları üslupların zenginliği ile İslam tarihinde öne çıkan devletler arasındadır. Bilhassa bu dönemde görülen seramik sanatında yenilikler İran seramik sanatında yeni bir evrenin kapısını açmıştır. Bu makalede Safevi seramikleri arasında büyük yer tutan mavi-beyaz, renkli sır ve seladonlardan oluşan bir grup eserin yer aldığı Tebriz Azerbaycan Müzesi koleksiyonunda yer alan Erdebil Şeyh Safiyüddin Dergâhı Çinihânesi kökenli seramik eserler tanıtılmıştır. Çin ve Timurlu etkisini taşıyan tabak, kâse, küp ve gülabdan gibi çeşitli formlardaki otuz civarında eserden oluşan bu özgün koleksiyon dönemin seramik sanatına dair zengin örnekler sunar. Tebriz Okulu olarak adlandırılan sanat ekolünün önemli örnekleri olan mavi-beyaz seramikler başta olmak üzere dönemin özelliklerini yansıtan seramikler sade bitkisel süslemeler ve yalın hayvan figürlerinden oluşan kompozisyonları ile dikkati çeker. Bu seramiklerin çoğunda Safevilerin sanat himayesini yansıtan kayıtlar olarak değerlendirilebilecek Şah Abbas vakfiyesine ait kitabeler vardır. Bu bağlamda makalede Tebriz Azerbaycan Müzesi’ndeki Erdebil kökenli Safevi devri seramikleri Tebriz Okulu ile ilişkilendirilerek, teknik, renk, desen ve üslup açısından değerlendirilmiştir.
