Bernard Lewis’in, Türk demokrasinin gelişim sürecini ele aldığı eseri, 4 ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Eserin birinci bölümü: “Türkiye'de Demokrasi”, ikinci bölümü: “Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin Osmanlı Kökenleri”, üçüncü bölümü: Tarihsel Perspektif İçinde Türklerin Demokrasi Deneyi, dördüncü bölümü ise “Neden Türkiye İslam Dünyasındaki Tek Demokrasi?” şeklinde isimlendirilmiştir.
