Kitabxanaların sənəd fondunu əks etdirən biblioqrafik informasiyanın elektron formatda biblioqrafik verilənlər bazalarında təqdim edilməsi prosesi XX əsrin son rübündən başlayaraq kitabxana-biblioqrafik fəaliyyətinin əsas istiqamətlərindən birinə çevrilmişdir. Bu prosesin növbəti məntiqi mərhələsi həmin sahədə kitabxanalararası kooperasiyanın formalaşması və elektron toplu kataloqlar şəklində genişlənməsidir. Bu tendensiyanın nəticəsində yaranan toplu korporativ kataloqlardan ən böyüyü OCLC təşkilatı tərəfindən həyata keçirilən WorldCat layihəsidir. Hal-hazırda Azərbaycan Respublikasının bir sıra kitabxanalarının da iştirak etdiyi bu layihə çərçivəsində yaradılmış elektron biblioqrafik resursda digər elm sahələri ilə yanaşı, təbiət elmləri üzrə sənədlər haqqında da böyük həcmdə biblioqrafik informasiya əksini tapmışdır. Bu resursun tərkibində Azərbaycanda nəşr edilmiş kitablar və dərc edilmiş elmi məqalələr də yer alır. Məqalədə WorldCat kataloqunda təbiət elmləri üzrə Azərbaycan mənşəli sənədlərin təmsil olunma xüsusiyyətləri faktiki və statistik materiallar əsasında təhlil edilir və qiymətləndirilir.

World Collective Library Catalogue – WorldCat and the Characteristics of the Representation of Azerbaijani-Origin Documents in the Field of Natural Sciences

The process of presenting bibliographic information reflecting library document collections in electronic bibliographic databases has, since the last quarter of the twentieth century, become one of the main directions of library and bibliographic activity. The next logical stage of this process has been the formation of interlibrary cooperation in this field and its expansion in the form of electronic union catalogues. The largest of such collective corporate catalogues that emerged as a result of this trend is the WorldCat project implemented by the OCLC organization. At present, within the electronic bibliographic resource created under this project, in which a number of libraries of the Republic of Azerbaijan also participate, a large volume of bibliographic information on documents in the field of natural sciences is represented alongside other fields of science. This resource also includes books published in Azerbaijan and scholarly articles produced in the country. The article analyzes and evaluates, on the basis of factual and statistical data, the characteristics of the representation of Azerbaijani-origin documents in the field of natural sciences within the WorldCat catalogue.
