2020- 2024 Yılları arasında AUAD’da yayımlanan uzaktan eğitim makalelerinin duygu yöneliminin sözlük temelli sentiment analizi

Öz

Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2020–2024 yılları arasında Anadolu Üniversitesi Açıköğretim Uygulamaları ve Araştırmaları Dergisi’nde yayımlanan açık ve uzaktan eğitim temalı makalelerin duygu yönelimlerini sözlük temelli sentiment analizi yöntemiyle incelemektir. Araştırma, betimsel bir doküman incelemesi kapsamında yürütülmüş ve toplam 42 akademik makale analiz edilmiştir. Metinler, R programlama dili kullanılarak ön işleme adımlarından geçirilmiş, tokenleştirilmiş ve geliştirilen Türkçe duygu sözlüğü ile eşleştirilmiştir. Sentiment analizinde kelimeler pozitif ve negatif olmak üzere iki duygu kategorisi altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Analiz sonuçları, sözlükle eşleşen toplam 2.184 kelimenin %79,17’sinin pozitif, %20,83’ünün ise negatif duygu yönelimine sahip olduğunu göstermektedir. Makale bazlı net duygu skorları, AUAD’de yayımlanan uzaktan eğitim literatüründe genel olarak olumlu bir söylemin baskın olduğunu; bununla birlikte sınırlı sayıda çalışmada eleştirel ve sorun odaklı bir yaklaşımın da benimsendiğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu çalışma, açık ve uzaktan eğitim alanındaki akademik söylemi duygu yönelimi açısından inceleyerek literatüre özgün bir katkı sunmakta ve sözlük temelli sentiment analizinin eğitim araştırmalarında kullanılabilirliğini göstermektedir.

A Lexicon-Based Sentiment Analysis of Distance Education Articles Published in AUAD between 2020 and 2024

Öz

This study aims to examine the sentiment orientation of open and distance education–related articles published in the Anadolu University Journal of Open Education Practices and Research between 2020 and 2024 using a lexicon-based sentiment analysis approach. The study was conducted as a descriptive document analysis, and a total of 42 academic articles were examined. The texts were preprocessed, tokenized, and analyzed using the R programming environment. A domain-specific Turkish sentiment lexicon was developed, and the tokenized words were matched with the lexicon and classified as positive or negative. Net sentiment scores were calculated at both the corpus and article levels. The findings indicate that 79.17% of the sentiment-labeled words reflect positive sentiment, while 20.83% are categorized as negative, suggesting a predominantly positive discourse in AUAD’s distance education literature. Article-level analyses reveal variations in sentiment orientation, indicating that while most studies adopt a supportive perspective, a limited number emphasize critical and problem-oriented aspects of distance education. Overall, the results demonstrate the applicability of lexicon-based sentiment analysis in educational research and offer a systematic perspective on academic discourse.
