Measurement of the Household’s Financial Distress and Well-Being in Türkiye
Öz
This study aims to measure financial distress and financial well-being among households in Türkiye using the Financial Distress and Financial Well-Being Scale developed by the InCharge Education Foundation and to examine differences across demographic characteristics. Independent-samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and LSD post hoc tests were employed to analyze variations by gender, age, employer, occupation, marital status, health insurance provider, education level, parental education, and monthly household income. The findings indicate significant differences in financial distress and financial well-being across the demographic variables examined. Male participants reported lower financial distress and higher financial well-being than females. Financial distress decreased with age, whereas financial well-being increased. Lawyers, academics, workers, physicians, engineers, self-employed individuals, and retirees exhibited more favorable financial well-being outcomes than teachers and civil servants. Married individuals reported lower financial distress and higher financial well-being than singles. Higher education and household income levels were associated with lower financial distress and greater financial well-being.
