Öz

Son yıllarda özellikle Avrupa Birliği’ne uyum çabaları kapsamında diğer sektörlerde olduğu gibi Türk sigortacılık sektöründe de rekabetin arttırılması gerekliliği önemli bir konu haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, 2002-2004 döneminde sektörde elemanter alanda faaliyet gösteren 25 sigorta şirketine ait verilerle “yapı-davranış-performans” yaklaşımı çerçevesinde yapılan analize göre, sektörde yoğunlaşma ile karlılık arasında güçlü ve doğrusal bir ilişkinin varlığı bulunmuştur. Kısaca belirtmek gerekirse, bu dönemde Türk sigortacılık sektörüne eksik rekabetçi bir yapının hakim olduğu söylenebilir.
