Effect of Plant Growth Regulators on Pollen Germination of ‘Mayhoş-8’ Pomegranate Cultivar

This research was carried out on ‘Mayhoş-8’ pomegranate cultivar grown on the collection orchard located at Dardanos campus of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Çanakkale, Turkey. Plant growth regulators, gibberellic acid (GA₃) at 25, 50 and 100 ppm, epibrassinolide (Epi-Bl) at 0.001, 0.01 and 0.1 ppm, and naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) at 0.5, 1 and 2.5 ppm concentrations were applied to the pollen germination medium. pollen germination experiments were done with agar in the petri method. Ratios of male (sterile) and hermaphrodite (fertile) flower types were determined on ‘Mayhoş-8’ cultivar. Effects of the pant growth regulators on pollen germination ratios were assessed on both types of flowers. 38.5% hermaphrodite and 61.5% male flowers were found on the cultivar. The highest pollen germination percentage (56.3%) was obtained from the the 0.01 ppm Epi-Bl application applied to the pollens from the male flowers.

Bazı Büyümeyi Düzenleyici Maddelerin 'Mayhoş-8' Nar Çeşidinin Çiçek Tozu Çimlenmesine Etkisi

Öz

Bu araştırma, Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi Dardanos Yerleşkesi içerisindeki nar koleksiyon bahçesinde bulunan ‘Mayhoş-8’ nar çeşidinde yürütülmüştür. Bitki büyüme düzenleyicilerden gibberellik asit (GA₃) 25, 50, 100 ppm, epibrassinolid (Epi-Bl) 0.001, 0.01, 0.1 ppm ve naftalin asetik asit (NAA) 0.5, 1, 2.5 ppm konsantrasyonlarında çiçek tozlarını çimlendirme ortamına uygulanmıştır. Çiçek tozu çimlenme denemeleri in vitro koşullarda ‘agar petri’ yöntemi ile yapılmıştır. ‘Mayhoş-8’ nar çeşidi üzerinde bulunan erkek (steril) ve hermafrodit (fertil) çiçek tiplerinin oranları saptanmıştır. Uygulanan büyümeyi düzenleyicilerin çiçek tozlarının çimlenme oranlarına etkisi her iki çiçek tipinde de belirlenmiştir. İncelenen nar çeşidinde %61.5 erkek çiçek ve %38.5 oranında hermafrodit çiçek belirlenmiştir. Morfolojik olarak erselik, fizyolojik olarak erkek yapıda olan çiçeklerin başka bir ifade ile A tipi çiçeklerin çiçek tozlarının çimlenme oranı %56.3 ile en yüksek Epi-Bl 0.01 ppm uygulamasında tespit edilmiştir.
