WILLIAM STANLEY JEVONS’IN MEKANİK “İNSAN” KAVRAYIŞI

Öz

Sosyal bilimlerin de doğa bilimlerinin kullandığı yöntemi benimsemesi gerektiğini savunan Jevons iktisadı bilhassa fizik ve mekanik gibi matematiksel bir temelde inşa etmeyi amaçlamış ve iktisadı “haz ve elem hesaplaması” olarak tanımlamıştır. Bu doğrultuda Jevons Bentham’ın haz-elem analizini başlangıç noktası olarak almış, ardından psikofizyoloji aracılığıyla iktisadın ve insan zihninin temelinin fizyolojik yasalara bağlılığını göstererek insan davranışını “kişisel-çıkar ve fayda mekaniği” olarak nitelendirmiştir. Jevons’ın mekanik iktisat ve insan kavrayışları neoklasik iktisadın ortaya çıkışında oldukça etkili olmuştur. Bu bağlamda, neoklasik iktisadın teorik yapısının belki de en net şekilde görülebileceği isim William Stanley Jevons’tır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da, Jevons’ın bilimsel yaklaşımı çerçevesinde, iktisadı ve insanı nasıl ele aldığını göstermek ve neoklasik iktisadın insan kavrayışının temellerine ışık tutmaktır.
