Objective: This study was conducted in order to explore burnout levels and to evaluate the correlation between quality of sleep in the intensive care unit nurses.Mateials and Methods: This study; which was descriptively conducted, was made with 53 nurses who worked at the intensive care unit and accepted to participate in the study. The data were collected using Personal Information Form, Maslach Burnout Inventory and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. For the data evaluation; percentages, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis Variances Analysis and Spearman’s Correlation Analysis were used. Findings: Mean score for emotional exhaustion of the participant intensive care nurses was 14.45 ± 7.86, mean score for depersonalization was 3.92 ± 3.41, mean score for personal accomplishment was 9.77 ± 3.92 and total PSQI score was 7.86 ± 3.58. It was found out that there was a statistically high correlation between choosing the profession voluntarily, idea to change the profession, being satisfied with the profession and idea that working at the intensive care unit increased anxiety level and mean scores for emotional exhaustion (p<0.01); and a positive and significant correlation existed between sleep quality total score and mean scores for emotional exhaustion and depersonalization (p< 0.01). Result: It was found out that intensive care unit nurses had poor quality of sleep and there was a significant correlation among the subscales of burnout inventory and poor quality of sleep.
