Public places can be defined as "the places, open to the public use, where the public get together, discuss and
express themselves and belong to the private or public institutions or governments".
This article claims the mosques that form the centre of the Ottoman architectural complexes in Istanbul as public
places and contains a discussion of the Ottoman architecture and the public places.
