Following the 1878 Berlin Treaty, Armenians in the Ottoman-European relations began to occupy an
important place. The European States had made various calculations on the Armenians for their own interests,
the Armenians, on the other hand, took advantage of this rivalry and were in a position to establish a small
Armenia. In 1862, 1878 and 1895 they engaged in rebellion movements. During the rebellions, they had
succeeded in receiving support from the European states. These revolts had caused the pressure of the
European states to increase over the Ottoman State.
