Taking into consideration the achievements in the economic development of Romania in
the last years, it complies with the criterion of being a functioning market economy.
Despite the favorable trends registered, our country is still reforming and restructuring its
economy. Therefore, vigorous implementation of its structural reform program should
enable Romania to cope with competitive pressure and market forces within the
European Union. Some improvements can be made in sustaining macroeconomic
stability and in deepening structural reforms which requires strong political commitment,
stable institutions, coherent public policies and financial resources.
